In this reading john told one important message about how the doors stood wide open for him to come into heaven and trumpets were playing and he heard someone speach come up here and I will show you what must take place after this. And there in heaven stood a throne with one seated on the throne as he seated he saw Jasper and cornelian.
Around the room was the 24 elders sat on 24 thrones The number twelve has significance for the Jews because it is the number of sons of Jacob, and therefore the number of the tribes of Israel. That may even be why Jesus selected twelve apostles. The number 24 only has significance in the book of the Revelation, where mention is made of “twenty-four elders.” These elders most likely represent the church as represented by the twelve tribes of Israel (or the twelve sons of Jacob) and the twelve apostles. Every time they are mentioned the book describes them as falling on their faces and worshipping God. So the only real significance we can get from that number is that we ought to be humbling ourselves and praising God.
