What Does God Know About Us?

Posted in Uncategorized on April 29th, 2009

God has made us special and unique in our own ways, even if we don’t see it. God thinks of us as his children, who knew us before we were even born. God wants for us to be king and compassionate to people. Treat thy neighbour as you would want to be treated by them.

I look at my self to be a extremely athletic person. I drive for competition in every sport I play, trying to beat the best to be the best. Other people like my friends who know me the best look to me to comfort them when they’re feeling down andto try help them out of thier situations. My interest sway from being competitive to being extremely relaxed and layed back. I love listening to more mellowed out music, this helps relax me cause im to positive and can take it to serious at times.

My weaknesses are being to overly competitive to win, and if I don’t I can’t just stop it and let it go, thinking about it makes me constantly frustrated even if I don’t show it. Passion sports and games I play is a negative quality about me also, taking the game far to serious . The positive part of it is I stay extremely competitive with the abilities god gave me. Another weakness is that I don’t show any emotion that I have, everything is just kept on the inside and pushed away to the back of my head. Puting everything else before me, can cause lots of problems and can lead to many different types of depression.

Ambition

Posted in English 20 on January 26th, 2009

Ambition is motivation for a person to seek power, power is what drives us to be extremists. Trying to make your place in this world by controlling everything you can. Letting your own ego get in the way of any other feelings. Striving to survive in the world today, taking as much power as you can.  Failure shows nothing other than fear, or defeat. Hiding behind those we fear means that were not able to fully commit to the out side world, by trying to live our own lives to the fullest expectations. To be ambitious or trying to make oneself powerful is a much greater accomplishment than someone who doesn’t know victory or defeat in their life time.

Power is key in the world today, if you let it go to your head your own conscience is stained with the thought of putting your self first no matter what the circumstances. Controlling your self rather than letting everything go to your head, and living in the shadows of the other powerful figures in society is to show your not afraid of taking control of ones life, and using your own power to keep your self on your feet. Macbeth showed he controlled his own power by not pushing anyone around, but instead did what needed to be done. Showing his true loyalty to his king and the people of his country. Macbeth’s strive for power first had started out when he met the three witches in the play, in which they had told him about the prophecy of Macbeth.

Ambition is the key factor in this book that made Macbeth strive for his grasp of power to reign over all. Macbeth’s ambition could lead to nothing but his death. The murder of such a high power, and authority figure can come with nothing except for consequences. Murder has no excuse, and only comes with the later pain and tragedy of have the exact same thing happen to you. Punishment and self righteousness comes to those who do things frowned upon by others. Macbeth committed a very selfless crime by murdering a man who greatly respected and trusted him. Taking out those who trust and value you as their friend, shows a lot about Macbeth’s greedy personality.

The rise and fall of Macbeth from general, to king. Macbeth was a brave and valiant warrior that accomplished a lot on the battle field. Praise and glory was sent his way from every country’s men that knew of Macbeth. Soon the witches ruin all honor and glory that Macbeth once knew of by telling him of the prophecy of Macbeth being the new king. Macbeth’s ambition and crave for power now made him intolerable to doing the right thing. Lady Macbeth caused the murder of the King, and drove it into Macbeth’s wife that it had to be done now, so they could be powerful and rich. Lady Macbeth’s ambition had seemed to be more influential and harsh compared to Macbeth.

Victory comes to those who grasp it, and do everything they can to obtain it, but at what cost would someone go to obtain this ” victory “. Ambition plays a part of whether you win or you lose, power gets you half way there, but if your not willing to take the victory then you lack the ambition. Defeat comes to those who sit back in the shadows while others take charge. Victory can come at a cost, like Macbeth’s life for instance. Defeat has no life threatening circumstance, just the pain of having to sit back and just imagining and wishing you were in control for once.

Citizens first responsibilities should be to his family. Families mold us into who we are today, and raised us from when we were first born. Family is the best aspect in everyones lives.

The day I should of stayed in bed

Posted in English 20 on December 12th, 2008

A few years ago back in grade nine I was heading up to Edmonton for a soccer game against Battle River Lightning. This was my second year playing for the Tier one Lake Land United soccer team, this team was very well known and respected among the other teams in the league. When stepping on the floor I know I have to set a bar for my self when I’m out there. Working extremely hard to work my self onto a starter position on this team, I did anything to get possession of the ball no matter what part of the body got hit, with the exception for one key area. This became a very effective way of playing soccer and gaining possession of the ball. Many players were scared of me when I came running at them. This became an advantage for the most point of my soccer career on that team, cause I got in the way of every shot and took it away from them. The only dis advantage was when something very unexpected happened when i went to block a shot but I hit the ball before he did when he slid to kick it. It was a very awkward play that had happened, I slid to block the ball he slid to kick it. I was the one that remained on the ground, we both connected, his heel to my shin. Only he got up, few seconds later I tried to make an attempt to stand up but felt a sharp pain drive through my body when my shin bent inwards. Right after the soccer game I left to the hospital, being crammed into a car in which I barely fit in. The day was a complete wreck, I ended up waiting sixteen hours in a hospital without pain killers, no food, drinks, or anything to do. This was the day I should of stayed in bed.

Truman

Posted in English 20 on December 11th, 2008

Life or death? What is better in a life with no way of controlling your own decisions without a higher power to pick them for you. Free will and the determination to be free can give Truman enough motivation to change his life to fit his own ways, instead of the show. Living a lie with no real way of knowing the difference between what is wrong and what is right. This could turn Truman insane, and desperate to finding out the truth. Truman’s every single emotion has been controlled in this series.

When someone is afraid they are easily controlled by the people around them Truman has never left “Seahaven” for he had a fear of water, cause that’s how he was told his father died. Finding out the truth about who you really are, and that everyone you know is just an acter would just demoralize your whole life. What is actually real in this world for Truman? Fear was installed into Truman’s life through the directors of the show. Controlling someones life like Truman is just inhuman, and unjust. This should be looked at by the police for holding a man hostage for the last thirty years of his life.

When Truman went to school, he was the only one actually going to school. All the actors just walked around, and pretended to be taking classes. Truman had a forbidden romance with Lorne, but the director already planned Truman to marry another girl. At the school Lorne was sitting near Truman at the study hall. He looked over and introduced him self, but he also noticed that she was studying the Japanese language. This was also not true, but what stood out most about her was the fact that she was wearing something that was forbidden by Christof. She wore a pin that said ” How does it end “.

Truman doesn’t realize that nothing on this show is fake it is only controlled. The people that really loves Truman like his girl friend, will try to tell him the truth. That everything here is not what it seems to be, but only the imaginary world created for the wealth and fortune of Christof. Truman met his father after being told that he died at the sea. Actors in this T.V. series saw that this wasn’t in the script put out for Truman, and immediately took his father away without hesitation. Later that day he saw his dad in the news paper, being taken away as a “Solving the homeless problem“.

Christof acts as if he is Truman’s God, as he talks through the command centers, and moon crater. Christof is trying to tell Truman that he is the inspiration to millions of lives. Saying this may make Truman feel special, but not happy. Truman needs to be set free to decide his own decisions for once in his thirty years of life. Christof believed that he owned Truman, but for once he couldn’t control this, Christof was wrong. Truman was in Control.

Snivelization

Posted in Snowflake on December 1st, 2008

Snivelization is a self made expression of civilization, and snivel. Civilization is a society with large numbers that share a common ground that is defined by the complex societies and agriculture within its boundaries. Herman Melville has the idea that our society is considered as a “Snivelization”, by this he means that our society is plugged up with self righteous people who only think about their own needs. Thinking about them selves only, looking after them selves and looking back for no one else.

Snivel means to have nasal congestion which is a blockage of the nasal passages, other known as a common cold. Comparing Snivel and civilization I came up with two different ideas on the subject. By first looking over the definition snivel I first thought of how this common cold, or sickness could show many personalities of people who only believe in doing what’s good for them and no one else. To me the more I think about it, the more it makes sense how our civilization is built of people trying to better them selves in our society today. Further helping them self, and no one else.

Snivelization is a term I agree with, there are very few people who go out there just to serve the needs of others like the homeless, poverty stricken citizens of other civilizations and third world countries in need. Instead we are worried about material goods that will make our own lives easier, and more relaxing. Citizens in our current civilizations are more worried what they’re going to spend their next pay check on, rather than what the money really needs to be contributed to. Such as charities, non profit organizations that are focused on helping the worse off citizens in our society that everyone seems to forget about.

Life Or Death

Posted in English 20 on November 12th, 2008

Passendale is a very memorable historical area that many soldiers had fought and sacrificed there lives in to protect the citizens in our countries. To many of the people in today’s world this event was a thing of the past, but what they haven’t realized without soldiers like the brave and heroic ones that fought in the war we would have nothing compared to what we have now. Freedom of speech, democracy and a will to do what ever we want and how we want to do it. Many soldiers today still fight for our country protecting our democracy and way of life.

Canadians played a key role in the winning of Passendale, enemies feared the soldiers of Canada better known as the * Storm Troopers * who bravely fought through all weather conditions doing what needs to be done. Capturing this key objective point in the war was one of many keys to victory in World War One. Against everything thrown against our proud country the troops still managed to hold in and stand strong even against the large numbers which surrounded our troops.

Canada may not be the biggest or strongest country in the world, but they have the respect of every other country for being in the front lines, or being where the action is to help support our fellow allies. Thousands of Canadian soldiers died fighting to stand for what they believe in. The Draft for soldiers in 1917 took thousands of young unexperienced soldiers away from home, but these soldiers had to be fit to the expectations of the army. If a citizen had any serious medical problems such as asthma he or she would not be able to go into war. This had left behind a select few of men compared to the thousands that left their home to fight.

Many of the soldiers that returned home were injured from a gun shot or artillery strike that had hit or ricocheted and damaged a part of the body, like embedding shards of metal or rock into a mans arm or leg. Through intensive care most of the soldiers ended up losing the limb that got damaged by a gun shot or artillery bullet. Shell shock was very common in a lot of soldiers that returned home, shell shock made a soldier very vulnerable to everything around him, even the slightest noise could set the person off into rage, fear, or aggression. Nightmares commonly occured among these soldiers which had haunted them for the rest of their lives. All of these sacrifices were made for our country, and every citizen in it.

There are many sites that have Canadian soldiers buried in, these are historical monuments of our past. To remember our soldiers that died in this war is to remember our past sacrifices and accomplishments. This is Why We Remember, who we are and what we were raised from.

Obama The New President

Posted in In The News on November 5th, 2008

Obama made the history of the United States by being the first black president ever in this countries history. The U.S. needed the new president for a change, cause George Bush was ruining the economy and the country its self with all of his antics and lies. Obama is here to change that, and every citizen of the United States Of America that voted for him knew that it was time for a change and Obama was the man for the job.

Obama is here to support the peoples rights, and renew the old ways of the U.S.A, make it so all of the things that Bush did wrong he was going to fix. Canada is exstatic that Obama became president, cause we can renew our old ties with the country, and the laws that George Bush had put on trading between U.S.A and our home country Canada can be fixed so it benefits both countries. Obama believes in equal rights among all citizens, that are homosexuals will be treated equally by everyone in society, and the government.

Obama had promised reduced tax’s for the people of the lesser society, and an increased tax rate on the higher society of American citizens. In a way this may seem unfair, but why should the citizens that have less money still pay the same amount as the higher class citizens that have enough money to spare that the tax’s wont phase them.

Views on Personality

Posted in English 20 on October 17th, 2008

After finishing reading the book Brave New World, I finally realized the personal views of many all the characters. One in particular was John the savage, he was the most interesting individual in this whole book. The society in Brave New World needs someone like John. They need to learn from what he’s trying to bring to the table and live a true life and not be stuck taking soma everyday. John with his super-ego conscience is only thinking of turning the society in Brave New World around, but there is no way he can match the conditioning of every person in the society. John is trying to change everyone in society because he is more intelligent then the common id in there current society.

Before John had reached the * Brave New World * society everyone had seemed to be in there place by showing they were law obeying citizens. When John had reached the Utopia, everyone was very accepting of him until he had tried to convince the lower class citizens to revolt, rebel and send a message to the leaders of Utopia that they were better than they are being treated now.

The way Lenina felt for John was unheard of in the current society that they lived in, this was the opposite of what they were taught to do. To love a man was unheard of, to be sexually attracted to a man was something that wasn’t taught or that was known to exist in Utopia. Young, beautiful and always willing to go out and have a great time. Lenina is more interested in the pleasures in life rather the more important values.

Sigmund Freud’s theory of psychic apparatus related easily to some of the characters to with his apparatus. His definition of Id reminds me of Lenina. She instantly came into my head as I was reading Sigmund Freuds Idea’s. Lenina was probably the most epicurean character of the book and showed the strongest characteristics of Id. All Lenina went for was her Soma, the more she got Soma the more pleased she was. Leading her self off her personal drives Lenina was a True Id in the Sigmund Freuds psychic apparatus. John had proven to be the Super-ego of the Sigmund Freuds psychic apparatus, the maturity, commitment and self belief showed that he was a strong individual. The super-ego *John * tends to stand in opposition to the desires of the id * Lenina * because of their conflicting objectives.

John was a true born leader in every aspect in this book, he grew up in a lesser society where nothing was derived from popularity, birth rights, culture or anything along that line. Coming to the Utopia of the Brave New World he quickly adapted to there customs, likes, and was near to leading an uprising. John is truelly the citizens uprising hero, to lead something in a perfect society where everyone was born, taught, and told what to do is just an out standing step up from being in an unknown society. To make a lasting difference in someone’s life is very hard to do, but to make a difference in a crowd of peoples life, by showing them the rights and wrongs of the society and the unfairness that had kept them the lower class that made them do all the labour. To lead a revolt against the great Henry Ford to show him how his perfect world has affected many peoples lives by choosing there fate before they even knew it. John really was the most out standing character in this book, nothing no one says can prove me wrong on this theory because he is truelly the only individual that stood up for what he thought was right and would be the one to act on it.

The ways of John

Posted in Uncategorized on October 1st, 2008

John’s antics are weird. He is going crazy, just because everyone isn’t the way he wants them to be. He has so far that he is throwing away people’s Soma. He is trying to control their lives just because they aren’t living life the way he thinks that they should be. John believes in things like not having sex until marrige and a very modern relationship. Instead of whining about how he wants the world to be he should stand up and act for it to prove a point to the leaders of their society. Without people who stand up for what they think is right, there would be no example of freedom of speach.
