Physical Pictures, Imaginary Waffles, One Great Story!
Bruno couldn’t believe how long it had been since he was forced to resign from Office. In fact, he couldn’t believe how corrupted Politics had made his life. He had lost everything, his wife, his job, his house and he even lost his friends. Politics had taken everything from him and as he sat in a restaurant dumpster, he saw a waffle. Strangely enough, this waffle, half-eaten and discarded, resembled his life in a surprisingly precise matter. It was then that Bruno began to recall the events leading up to his dumpster life-style.
Bruno’s life was never easy. He had always the need to move from city to city since his father was Founder of Big Box Mart and to ensure his corporation would grow, they needed to move and make business agreements with said cities. It wasn’t an easy life-style, since Bruno never had friends for very long. The waffle, with it’s many grooves and indents, reminded John of how many times he moved, of how sad he would get when his family notified him of another business deal. There were high times in his life, just as a waffle has high ledges. Such times in Bruno’s life were when he had to stay in a city for longer than a month. This gave John time to make friends, but only to lose them as John was continually reminded of. This continued throughout Bruno’s school years.
It was then that John’s eyes hovered over the sticky surface of the waffle and it allowed him to recall his University life. Bruno had always wanted to become involved in politics. It fascinated him, and he wanted to bring change through becoming Prime Minister. Throughout university, Bruno’s grades were barely making par and his instructors had little hope for him. He was incredibly low on money and had wracked up a debt through poor spending. He always went to his family for debt control and his family always supported him. Like everything in this world, it must all come to an end. His father, sick of Bruno’s poor spending habits, cut him off from the family altogether. It was then that Bruno knew he needed help, and so he took money management courses. Bruno wiped away his annoyingly sticky habits as one might wash away the syrup stuck on one’s hand. Cruel is the syrup of false hope.
It was than that Bruno witnessed that half the waffle was missing, and so his trip down memory lane continued. The waffle had taken him to when he met his wife. Those were the happiest days of his life, until he became Prime Minister. He started his term as Prime Minister on a high note. Even then, politics had taken it’s toll on Bruno, to the point where his old habits began forming one by one. He began sinking into debt once more. Bruno’s wife, Joan wasn’t oblivious to his bad spending habits and while the debt quickly accumulated, Joan’s patience grew thin. It was then that Bruno’s life plumited. Joan gave Bruno a decision, quit the job, or quit the family. Bruno, having lost all sense of priorities to politics, made the decision that ruined his life. Not long after leaving his wife did Bruno’s poor money management really take a turn for the worst. It didn’t take long for the media to catch up to Bruno. Bruno was not only full of debt, but also was forced to resign from office. The minority had won, and the people had forsaken him.
It was then that Bruno’s conscience flashed into the present. He was in a dumpster, alone and without acknowledgement. Fate was on Bruno’s side that day though. Unknown to him as he slide out of the dumpster was that his mother was walking down the street. She heard the noise of crushed cans and rumbling garbage and glanced towards the dumpster. It was a fated reunion that day, for both Bruno and his mother. Bruno learned that his father had passed away and that his mother had forgiven him. It was then as Bruno walked past the dumpster towards his mother that he spotted a pancake radiating heat and had a golden glow of syrup. As he witnessed this site, he just smiled and walked towards his future.
