He had to wear 300 pound harness because he was such a good athlete and he was really smart so he had to have headphones in his ears and his looks were to great so they made him wear a red ball on his nose and shave his eyebrows. “I am the Emperor!” cried Harrison. “Do you hear? I am the Emperor! Everybody must do what I say at once!” He stamped his foot and the studio shook.

There was a ballerina that Harrison took as his empress. she was the stronger ballerina because her weight in the harness was much heavier than the other Ballerinas.

There was an announcer that interrupted the tv show to announce that Harrison bergeron had escaped from jail.

Plot……

When Harrison was 14 years old he was taken away from his family because he was superior over everyone. Harrison was handsome, great athlete, amazing IQ and broke the law by not wearing his handicappers.

Harrison Bergeron broke out of jail and went to the stage where the ballerinas were dancing and where thousands were watching it on their TV. Harrison ripped off his handicaps in front of everyone and exclaimed that he was the emperor.

Dianna Moon Glampers walked into the place where Harrison was dancing and showing off his elegent skills. She walked in with a shotgun loaded ready to fired two shots one into Harrisons chest and the other into the Ballerinas chest.

The year was 2081 and everybody was finally equal. The government made people wear handicaps to make everyone equal. Nobody was better or worse, everyones athletic ability, IQ and looks were the same as everybody else.

Harrison’s parents were watching everything that was happening over the TV. They watched Harrison rip of his handicaps and watched him rip of the ballerinas handicaps. When they saw Dianna the handicapped general walk in and kill Harrison and the Ballerina George and Hazel didn’t think much of what just happened because George’s handicap ear piece started ringing in his year and stopped his thinking process and Hazel was started to cry about it but then forgot what she was crying about. George and Hazel forgot that they just watched their son get shot and murdered.

Setting……..

The setting took in 2081 in a place in the studio where Harrison ripped off his handicaps and ripped the ballerinas handicaps off infront of lots of people. Harrison’s parents watched all this happen over the TV at home but didnt think much of it because when his dad would think hard his handicap would ring and stop him from thinking.

Theme….

This short story is in a town or city where the government handicapped the citizens to become equal with each other. Harrison Bergeron is outstanding in every way in society at that time. He is intelligent, great athlete and stunning looks. The government handicapped him and put him in jail but he was still stronger than all the handicaps he had on him. He broke out of jail and in front of many people took off all his handicaps. Dianna the general walked in and ended Harrison’s power by shooting him with a shotgun. This story is saying that our generation is stupid and full of idiots.

Conflict…..

The government put handicaps on everyone for more control over the citizens. Harrison Bergeron brakes out of jail and says to everyone in the studio that he is the emperor. Harrison made it clear to everyone that was watching that we still have power and should not controlled and handicapped for our abilities.

Literary devices…..

The ballerina’s were burdened with sashweights and bags of birdshot, and their faces were masked, so that no one, seeing a free and graceful gesture or a pretty face, would feel like something the cat drug in.

Cultural milieu….

Handicaps are related to hockey because in hockey penalties limit the stuff you can do to prevent the other team from scoring. If the opposing player is on a break away and you catch up and trip him the handicap is that he gets a penalty shot where no one can try and stop him. Hooking, slashing, high sticking, hitting to the head, tripping, are all handicaps to the game of hockey. The government controlled the citizens and took away there abilities to succeed. This relates to the nobles dynasty when they controlled the peasants and told them what they had to do. Peasants couldn’t succeed during that time because the nobles owned them and the handicaps the peasants faced was they couldn’t leave the manor and the only job they could do was what the nobles wanted them to do. Peasants had barley any money which handicapped them from doing anything.
