The Workshop

My Auntie Diane is one of those women who can build absolutely everything. I always enjoy spending time with her but this particular experience is a memory I’ll never forget. A few years ago at Christmas, Marisa, Andre, and I went to visit her. After our arrival my Auntie Diane suggested that we build a Christmas decoration for us to take home. Excitedly we told her how much we would love to make a decoration with her. Quickly walking into the workshop she grabbed some wood, Christmas lights, and tools. I remember her sliding on her protective glasses, work gloves, and boots. She looked so professional with her work clothes on, dirty brown gloves, and massive protective goggles on her face. From a distance we intently watched her shape the wood into three magnificent Christmas trees. Leaning over her work of art she started to steadily drill holes everywhere on the trees. Turning to us she invited us over. Using here steady, gentle hands she showed us how to stick the Christmas lights into the holes. Since there were three trees Marisa, Andre, and I each got to put lights in one tree. One of the trees was for each of us. For the next few hours we worked hard and bonded. Many memories were made and there was laughter in the room constantly.
