Cities at risk from rising sea levels, scientists say

New YorkWhen I heard that many cities were at risk due to rising sea levels I was shocked. They say that it will cost a lot of money. Isn’t the safety of peoples lives worth more than saving money and continuing to pollute the world. Also if they are worried about global warming why wouldn’t they shut down companies that are emmiting harmful toxins in to the air. They could also tell them to fix it so that they aren’t emmiting as much toxins into the air but the companies will probably complain that it will cost “too much” money. If they are saying that cities are at risk because of rising sea levels why don’t they do something about it instead of complaing that it will cost a lot of money.

There is no time frame for the rising sea levels, but scientists say that population growth in these areas should be reduced. Threatened areas are those that are lying at less than 10.05 metres above sea level.

It’s scary not knowing what the world around us will look like in 25 years if we don’t do anything about it. With the population of the world continuously increasing global warming will increase unless we decide to take drastic measures to maintain the world. I think this should be done. If nothing is done I don’t want to imagine what the world will be like for future generations.

“Migration away from the zone at risk will be necessary but costly and hard to implement, so coastal settlements will also need to be modified to protect residents.”— Gordon McGranahan, study co-author

The scientists predicted that more than two thirds of the worlds large cities will be affected by the global warming. These include Tokyo, New York, Mumbai, India, Shanghai, China, Jakarta, Indonesia, Dhaka, and Bangladesh.

I had no idea that cities were accually in danger from global warming. That’s really scary that two thirds of the worlds large cities will be affected by this, thank goodness we aren’t on that list. You explained this situation really good and I enjoyed reading your paragraph.

Wow, global warming is a big issue, but I didn’t realize that big! Cities all over the world should be doing something about this issue. You made good points and produced a well-thoughtout paragraph!

That is crazy I knew that global warming was bad but this is horrible. I agree that they should be using money to fix that than pollute it more. Good choice in your topic.
