Five Easy Pieces: The Gardener

She pulls on pastel green gardening gloves
that fit surprisingly snug around her slender fingers.
She walks across the lush green grass
onto the garden where she begins.

Hovering over the dark soil,
her fingers place the tiny seeds
into the earth beneath
and then covers them up with dirt.

The sky, a giant blue blanket.
With such a vibrant shade of blue.
Not a single cloud above
to block out the blazing sun.

Are you immune to the torrid heat?
It beats down on you relentlessly-
never giving up, not even for a moment.
You work contently as if in a bubble.

“I will work until it is finished.”
She looks up, smiling.
Completely in her element
and nothing could ruin it.
