Maclean’s University Ranking

Posted by dcollins on 28th November 2006

I received a copy of Maclean’s Magazine annual rating of Canadian Universities. It is an interesting read. If you would like to borrow my copy, feel free. There are many ways that universities are rated such as class size, library holdings, and entry marks. It is difficult for me to summarize the articles. What is interesting is that students can make their own rankings depending on what is important to them.

To create your own ranking go to macleans.ca/university.

I do want to comment on one rating that struck me as important. By asking CEO’s, principals, counselors, and others Maclean’s compiled a Reputational Ranking. The top five are:

  1. University of Alberta
  2. Waterloo
  3. McGill
  4. University of British Columbia
  5. Toronto

University of Calgary ranked 11, Saskatchewan 16, Lethbridge 28.
