Do All People go to Heaven?

Lord, will many be saved? Or is Hell crowded?  Right now the world says it is easy to be good but wide is the road that leads to destruction, narrow the gate to eternal life. Is it easier to stick to the good, a life of choices and happiness, or stray to the bad, a life of anger and regret? Our natural-born tendency is the path to destruction.  We are made for God but we are also broken. We are invited to choose the truth, and light, the narrow door, but we also have the choice to choose the wide door.  Regardless of how someone is raised, we believe that good people go to heaven when we die. The scripture points out that to go to heaven you have to be baptized, receive the eucharist, and you have to profess your faith. We don’t naturally grow into heaven. We have to realize that heaven isn’t a prize we get when we die. God wants us all to go to heaven but we still have to make the choice about where we end up. We are all invited but it is our choice about how much we will clean ourselves up or present yourself. You have to make other arrangements in your life to get there. You can’t walk into something without being prepared. Even if you have never heard of Jesus or you have never had the option to choose him you can still be saved if we choose the good that we do know. The biggest question we have to ask is, what am I doing to get there. What am I doing to get to the narrow gate?

How to Get Real Friends

God made humans to have friendship and love, we are made for relationships.  What are the things we need in order to have real friendships or community? Friendship and community require two things, availability, and vulnerability. Availability is making sacrifices so you can be there whether you are needed or not, just being available. The willingness to make connections is what gives people availability. To be available to others you first must have are carefree timelessness for yourself. When you are vulnerable you have to put your walls and barriers down and be honest. Allow people to see who you actually are. Trust that everything will be ok if you let others into your life. In closing to make real friends you have to be open and available with yourself so you can be open and available with others.

Why does God Allow Suffering?

Why does God allow anything bad to happen? God has given us free will so we have the ability to affect and change what is around us. There are two types of evil in the world, physical and moral evils. Physical evil exists in the Universe. ex) wind storm destroys the village. Moral, or human evil is only created by humans, all evil in this world is man-made. If God eliminated all evil, he would also eliminate freedom in the process. He created this world good but he allows it to be broken so we can still have our freedom. Jesus doesn’t take away our pain, he transforms it.  If there is no pain there is no healing. Mercy is having the time and freedom to choose. Nothing given to God is ever wasted our pain isn’t wasted it is for something greater than ourselves.

Leaving Home

I have never been away from my family for longer than a week so moving away from home to somewhere I don’t know anymore will be a huge change. Of course, university will be challenging and scary but that is nothing compared to the new opportunities, friends, and fun activities that I will do and meet. Going through difficult months will be difficult but when it is all over the self-growth and maturity will be worth it.

I’m not scared of meeting new people or even being more independent, it is the fact that when I fall I won’t have the same amount of support or love coming my way. I won’t have my mom or dad with me or constantly chatting and checking up on me. Not seeing their faces every day will be different, I have never really had to go through that before which will definitely be hard. I won’t ever live with my parents again, which is a sad thought. Even though they are a phone call away it won’t be the same, they aren’t there to give you a hug when you really need it.

Leaving my parents will be the hardest thing when I start university but they definitely aren’t my only fear. When you are going to university you are choosing what you are going to do for the rest of your life which for me is the scariest thing to say. How can you choose one thing that we define the rest of your life, what if you choose wrong and you’re miserable for eternity? Or worse choosing something you actually love but there isn’t any work in your field so you end up doing something you hate.

University Is the final step before we get to start our adult life, or when our life will really begin. When we can start making decisions for ourselves and develop a new understanding of who we actually are as people. It is a lot different when you think about being an adult as a kind, you think it will be so easy because no one can tell you what to do and you can eat all the junk food you want. Thinking about it now it’s great no one can tell you what to do but there are more things to think about such as money, for your mortgage, car payment, gas, food, clothes. There is all this extra stuff to think about but that is what helps you grow and learn to make great decisions.

University has a few downfalls but will have great experiences too. I will be able to learn new things related to my career. Meet new people that may become life long friends. Participate in exciting school events. I will create lasting memories when I leave home which is pretty exciting.

Hobbies

My three favorite hobbies are painting, baking, and reading. All three of my beloved hobbies help me to relax and express myself during stressful weeks. All of my hobbies are very independent in that all of them can be done alone. Independence isn’t the only category my hobbies fall into, they also fall into the relationship category.

I absolutely love baking, it is my favorite pass time all year round. I love all the different foods you make during the different seasons of the year. My favorite thing to make in apple muffins. Food is a great way to bond and make relationships, this can be done when you’re making the treats together or eating them too. Baking is also very independent, you have the freedom to choose what you are going to make when you want, with no pressure from anyone else.

Painting is another one of my favorite recreational activities. It allows me to express myself with beautiful colors and test my abilities. Painting helps to relieve tension better than talking can, which can benefit your relationship with your self because you have relaxed. Painting is more in the independence category than the relationship because majority of the time it is done alone. You are the sole creator of the masterpiece, you choose the colors, design, and canvas all on your own without anyone else.

Creating the colorful pictures in my head from the words on the page is my favorite part of reading along with the quirky characters. Comparing ideas about the book you read with someone else is a great way to strengthen or start a relationship. Just like my other hobbies reading is independent because it can be done alone with just you and your thoughts.

I never realized that my top motivations, independence, and relationships were even remotely connected to my hobbies. This shows that even if you aren’t directly working at something, you are just having fun, the end goal is always the same as the one you are working for even if you don’t know it.
