The Lovely Bones is an amazing, strange and compelling novel. This book is combined with a line of horror and humor, which very very opposite, along with wrong and right. The story line revolves around many of the emotions and actions of a family that lost their very loved daughter, Susie, to a murder, a very brutal murder. Although the family didn’t know who her murderer was she could see his every move from her heaven. George Harvey an outcast that lived in her neighborhood was her killer, he brutally raped and murdered her. George had many victims before Susie. But did he have a legitimate reason for his actions? Was is actually wrong in his own mind?
It’s hard to piece such tragic occasions together thinking from a sane persons point of view, but try to imagine putting yourself in the killers shoes. It’s not a point of view anyone would consider understanding, but it could help to comprehend Mr. Harvey’s thoughts. Maybe this man had a hard life growing up, maybe he was neglected, but his past shouldn’t affect his presents and make the actions he committed right.
There’s some cases I have a hard time understanding the victim’s point of view, but reading this book the victim is
explaining her experiences as she in her heaven. Susie talks about her life experiences that were taken away, and she wanted revenge as she watched the people she loves from her heaven. Susie also tried to keep an eye on her murderer, and she can see more crimes that he commits, and how he is so close to getting caught… but he never does. Eventually time and justice get to him, but it’s not the normal “serve your time” justice, it’s the “fate” kind of justice.
The title of the book is Lovely Bones. Looking at the title I tried to understand it, but after reading it gave me a new image. There’s a part in the book when Susie got the chance to come back to earth for a few short hours or so and live through someone else. Susie didn’t use that time to tell anyone where the evidence of her murder is, or even who her killer was, she just used her time to show someone the love she had for him. The reason Lovely is used is the title isn’t because she was hateful or wanted revenge but because she wanted happiness for her loved ones. She wanted tim to figure out Right from Wrong.

I’m reading a book called Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. This book revolves around the murder of a young fourteen year old that tells her story from her heaven, she goes by the name Susie Salmon. On the day of Dec. 6 1973 susie was brutally raped and murdered by a man named George Harvey. George was a very unusual man that didn’t really associate with anyone, he lived a few houses down from the Salmon family. George wasn’t very involved in the neighborhood, and was known to be an odd, unusual man.
Susie wasn’t Mr. Harvey’s first victim, there had been many more. Mr. Harvey was very discrete when covering the evidence after any murder he committed, none of his murders had ever been uncovered. There had been slight traces of evidence but it could never lead to him. The longer Susie’s murder took to uncover the more her family would give up, but her father did not want to let go of hope.
Suspicion grew in Susie’s father, he began to wonder who was commit such a disgusting disturbing act, and how would his daughter would have reacted. He wished, like any other parents that lost their child to a murder, that she could have gotten away and succeed in getting who ever committed the crime in jail. He wished that he knew who did it to her, Susie and her murderer were the only one that knew, he just wanted some connection to who ever it was.
One day Mr. Salmon came across Mr. Harvey and they associated for a few hours. As he spent those few hours with Mr. Harvey something sparked, he thought “this man is odd and seems slightly uptight around me.” He knew he could feel tension around his odd neighbor, something was off about this man. Days went by and Susie’s day became more and more suspicious. He was convinced that Mr. Harvey was the main suspect in his books, but he had no proof there was no lead and the police could do nothing about the possible danger that this man could carry out.
Suspicion is a feeling a person has that can be possible or likely. To Mr. Salmon everything clicked in place and he a strong suspicion that the man had taken tProxy-Connection: keep-alive

life from his daughter, it hurt him that he couldn’t help Susie. There was no proof.

“A heart of stone.”
This metaphor to me can have many meanings. One can be that you have an extremely strong attidude, you can deal with pain, you know how to comprehend.
But another meaning could be that you just don’t care, your heart is stone, you have no feeling like a rock.

Poetry is honestly something that anyone can use to express anything they feel. Being this age it is hard to explain and let emotions out and poetry is a great way to let everything out.
This year I was pushed to my limit when it came to writing poetry. I have never really been extremely poetic but when I used the methods that Mr. Sader gave me I eventually learned how to let my mind open up. Poetry was something that helped me through my hard times and now that I have learned new ways to make a poem I write a lot more.
I have read a few of my friends poems and they truely inspired me, especially Nekaylas. She writes about some of her life tradgedies and some of the good things that have went on in her life. I really enjoy her poem called “Ecstasty of Life” because it reminds me of events that have happened in my life. This poem to me talks about what lots of teenagers go through and I think that is a great thing to write about. Poetry is a great way to get messages across.

On May 24, my leadership class attended the ASLC 2009. It was a conference that over 700 kids attended and it was a unforgettable experience. I met so many people that are so outgoing and crazy just like me, I have never been in such a positive environment and it was a great feeling.
This conference was an experience that taught me that respect and a being someone that is likable can get you far. When I say “likable” I mean someone that can get their peers attention, someone that is kind and inspiring. Being on student council next year this conference influenced me to be one of those likable people. I honestly have never really understood what it took to be a great leader, but after going to Calgary I learned that it takes a lot to be a great leader.
At the conference everyone was split up into random groups and we were basically forced to meet new people weather you liked it or not. I was put in a group called Klassy Cindy Klassens. My group was fairly big and I knew no one, I was extremely nervous to meet new people because I honestly didn’t know what they would think of me, I was so scared that people wouldn’t except me. It was amazing how everyone was so open to making new friends at this conference, I loved it!
When we were in our groups we had to attend sessions, and one of the sessions was community service, and for our community service we had to write letters for Soldiers in Afghanistan. We could ask questions or just say thank you. When I wrote my letter I talked about how thankful I was because I know that our country is safe because of them and how we are so lucky to have a peaceful country.
This leadership conference was the highlight of my year and I am glad that I was fortunate enough to be able to attend it. People just don’t understand how these conferences affect people, They are extremely fun and you learn so much.

Growing up a patrician Julius Caesar was basically breaded to be powerful. Caesar competed to be the top cenatar, he was competing against another powerful man named Pompey. The thing about Pompey was that he was Stoic which means that he believed in reason, he believed that humans had purpose after life and that humans had an immortal soul. Where as Caesar
was very epicurean, he believed that everything in our universe is made up of small invisible particles that just float around, that meant that people had no immortal soul, there was no after life.
In Rome at this time there was two categories of people, the plebs, which were the poorer people, and the patricians, who were the powerful people. There were also the two philosophies, the epicurean philosophy and the Stoic philosophy. The majority of the plebs were stoic, which meant they were believers in reason. There was a reason why the plebs believed in immortal soul and that was because being a pleb meant that you didn’t really have right, it meant that they were miserable, that they needed something to live for. So if the plebs were stoic what were the chances they would want to fallow Caesar. Well there wasn’t really a good chance, but the thing about Caesar is he knew how to get the attention of the public. He had a lot to offer.
To me being a stoic at this time made more sense, for plebs especially. Being poor and not having rights would be a hard way to live, they would have to live towards something. But as a patrician they didn’t care about consequences, they only cared about what made them feel good at the moment. I like to compare those kind of people to the our society today. Our society may be slightly different then Rome’s society back in the day but it has its similarities, our government has the same set up that the Romans had and we have our epicurean and stoic people. When comparing our world to the older world it hasn’t vastly changed, but we have learned from their mistakes.

Being in love is a huge deal but knowing that the one you love will put them self in danger to make sure you are safe is very complicated to comprehend. It’s almost gives you a bitter feeling knowing that this person would go so far just to risk their life just to make sure that you won’t get hurt.
Eclipse is the third book in the Twilight series. This book revolves around Bella and Edwards engagement. It describes the many feelings that a young couple would go through when making the decision to get married so early in their lives, well early for Bella. It’s their graduating year and Bella has made the comittment to Edward and has chosen to give her heart to him. She thought it through and she has also chosen that she wants to be with him forever, well that is pretty much the concept of marriage, but Bella doesn’t want to grow old if Edward isn’t growing old, so she wants to become a vampire and also live forever.
All though Bella has given Edward her heart he still has competition for her love. When Edward left Bella in the previous book she got really close with Jacob Black. In this book she realizes that she is also falling in love with Jacob, she doesn’t love him as much as Edward but she has a hard time being around him. She considered him her best friend, and thats all she wanted to be with him but she had come to the conclusion that he was much more then that. She didn’t want to choose, she already chose, she already had what she wanted and this addition to her love life made it so difficult.
There is more to her “drama”. Bella was being tracked down by vicious vampires. Edward doesn’t want to make her one yet, he wants her to realize that being human is a gift. The vampires are getting closer. Her life always seems to be in danger. There is an army of vampires coming to get her, the only way they can be taken down is if the werewolves make peace with the Cullens and join in the fight against the evil army.
This book demonstrates the decisions and responsibilities that anyone has to go through when it comes to a loved one. It teaches not to take your loved ones for granted, you have to be there for them everyday. You have to be responsible when it comes to making sure that you can support your loved ones, not necessarily financially, but you have to let them know that you will always be there for them. The reason i feel like this it linked to the plot of the book is because Bella makes choices and only makes them so they involve her and Edward, never her family. Her family is an important part of her life and she needs to always be there for them.

It’s great to have a handheld device that can connect to the internet and play music at the same time. The Ipod touch is so much more then any original MP3 player. Its like a toy that is so addicting and you can’t put down. Some people
would compare this to a cell phone but really it’s like a hand held laptop. You don’t have to pay for any internet connections, you can just pick up any signal, and you can get any application that can do anything imaginable. The apps can include anything from games to tools like levels.
The Ipod touch is a piece of technology that is upgrading our society. Through the years Apple has upgraded their Ipods majorly. As years pass the Ipod touch has apps and will eventually be massively advanced. I do believe that in years from now the Ipod will have a camera attached and so many more enhancements.
My Ipod is constantly by my side. I’m addicted to the music and having constant access to the internet. Being able to have to communication and music at hand makes this gadget a very addictive piece of technology. With out the cost of a cell phone and a free internet connection makes this appliance a very useful gadget.

Across the Universe is great movie that re-introduces the classic music by the Beatles. The movie is placed back in the 60’s when the revolutions were running mad and people always getting high. This movie demonstrates the decision making that anyone has to gothrough in this generation and the generations before. This movie is about a young man named Jude that comes to America to find his father and when he gets there he meets a man named Max who rebels against his parents wishes and drops out of school. Jude decides to stay by Max’ s side through all his hectic decisions. Jude is also falling in love with Lucy, Max’s sister who just lost her long time boyfriend in the war.
Jude and Max decide to move to New York where they believe they can restart their lives. They move into a small apartment that they have to share with a few troubled roommates. The roommates seem to have major problem, but as they live together for longer periods of time they grow closer. Since this time was when the revolution and the war any American citizen that didn’t have a job was forced to fight in the war. Since Max decided to drop out of school he is forced to join the army and leaves. Max gets drafted into the war, and Lucy and Jude fall deeply in love. They eventually join peace marches and revolutions.
This movie demonstrates decision making and responsibilty. It provide a great lesson on why people have to put effort into their schooling, and how certain choices can affect you and so many people around you. Not only that it provides a lesson on getting along and respecting one another.
