Favourite Hobbies and Activities

There are lots of different things that motivate people. I am motivated by achievement, which means I look for ways to feel like I’ve done something, and the opportunity to fully engage the use of my unique skills, knowledge and ability is motivating to me. The second thing that motivates me is relationships meaning having a connection with people related to the activity that I am doing inspires me. I enjoy doing many different activities and I usually like to step out of my comfort zone and try new hobbies. My three all-time favorite hobbies are volleyball, art, and cooking/baking.

My favorite activity has always been volleyball. I honestly don’t know why I’m so drawn to it because I don’t really like any other sports but when I’m on the court with my team I feel so happy and all I want to do is play the best I’ve ever played each game. On my motivations quiz, it said that my second most motivational factor is relationships and this plays into volleyball a lot because my team feels like family, interacting with people that I enjoy being around is definitely something that motivates me.

Another activity that I really enjoy is art, ever since I was little I’ve always been drawn to art. My favorite part about art is that there’s really no wrong way to do it, I use art to express myself in my free time, I don’t really enjoy art classes and things like that because I like to march to the beat of my own drum you could say. When I do art I usually work till I’m done. I won’t usually take breaks in between pieces and this plays into why one of my motivational factors was achievement, I feel a sense of accomplishment when I complete something.

Lastly, a hobby that I have always enjoyed ever since I was little is baking. I used to always bake with my grandma as a kid and I have always found it so fun, especially when you are doing it with another person. Recently, I have started showing an interest in cooking also. I’m motivated to do this because it makes me feel proud of myself when I get a recipe right and I get a sense of achievement from it. This also plays into how my one motivational factor was “relationships” because I always find it more enjoyable when I am cooking with someone that I have a connection with and that I enjoy being around.
