Ivory

Her hands are small and delicate
Ivory with a hint of pink
So soft and warm
Not a hint of color on her nails
Perfectly trimmed and shaped

She holds up her hand to count off the seconds
The flash is bright as her finger clicks the button
We all through sand up in the air, even her
Covering her face with her hands, she sneezes
Laughing she comes running over and pulls me with her hand

We run under the palm trees
Sand clouds following closely behind us
On the count of three we jump into the crashing wave
The rush of cold water is like a dose of reality
Laughing again we run back to our friends

Looking into her eyes I wondered if I should
I tried to imagine if it would ruin this place
Searching her eyes I ran through the possibilities
I have more to gain than to loose
Do you miss him?

She looks up at me with a question in her eyes
She moves her lips in an answer that I don’t comprehend
I repeat what I heard with a questioning tone
She looks at me with more question in her eyes
I repeat the question, her answer I can apprehend
