Knowledge is a familiarity, awareness, or understanding of an individual or an entity, such as facts, information, descriptions, or skills, which is acquired through experience or education, by perceiving, discovering, or learning. As soon as a human is born into this earth, they have no knowledge (barring instinctive human instincts and reflexes). To counteract this, they observe the world around them to gain an understanding of what is going on. They continually do this to even the time of their death, gaining knowledge through perception, communication, and reasoning. With knowledge we are able to understand this world, influence the environment around us for our needs and wants, and prepare ourselves for the course of existing. Whether if the action is studying the stars above us, observing bacterial life form, or just simply cooking food in the kitchen. As Sir Francis Bacon has expressed, “Ipsa scientia potestas est” (‘knowledge itself is power’) in Meditationes Sacrae.
Epistemology is a branch of philosophy involved with the theory of knowledge. This branch debates on four main areas. Philosophical analysis of the nature of knowledge and how this concept concerns to other concepts such as truth, belief, and justification. Various problems with skepticism, the source and scope of knowledge and justified belief. In addition, the criteria for knowledge and justification. This helps deal with questions such as distinguishing between a claim, opinion, or a justified belief.
The Knowledge survey on myblueprint.ca gave me questions concerning what subjects I am curious in. The results that I was given back stated that my top subjects of interest were mathematics and physical education at 94%, computers and social sciences at 83%, and science and languages arts at 78%. Occupations that are related to these fields are an aerospace engineer, geneticist, mathematician, statistician, and numerous other fields of work.
Subjects in that I am interested in are the four main core subjects and P.E. I look forward to these classes as they are the most likely to help me the most in school and life. Focusing on these subjects will allow me to access various occupations that I could not access If i just focused on one single minor subject. My opinion on these subjects will continue to change as I grow older and become more invested into a particular subject, but as of right now I am focusing equally on all five. Allowing myself to grow in opinion.
