Back in the day, the older generations will forever be talking about what is wrong with our younger generation. The older generation never did take into thought that maybe there is nothing wrong with our generation, as it might be right. Scientifically speaking that we are much smarter than the older generation as we are always adapting to new technologies.
When a person says or mentions “what is wrong with all teens these days” it makes us feel useless and makes us feel down about how we think of ourselves now a days. We may be smarter than our parents but they taught us a lot and that is mainly how we are so bright and smart. They taught us the ways of doing activities and because of that they made us talented humans. For many years the technology is changing and becoming more difficult to use or more advanced. This may be causing us to “lose our minds” when it comes to learning how to use them. For example, many schools are transferring all their work to chrome books instead of lined paper. This could affect people without internet at home. The technology also changes so fast that you don’t have time adapt to the old technology and them a new one comes out making our minds stressed.
There’s a saying that says”you should always leave your campsite better than you found it”. In my point of view, I believe that when your at school, work, backyard, local gym, you should have a positive change on your community and then when the next person that goes there will feel they should leave it even better than what they found it. It may make you feel like you can help change countless amounts of people’s lives by leaving it better than what you found it.
There is always someone on this earth that believes in you more than you do yourself. I don’t have one specific person but it’s my mom and dad. They believe I can accomplish anything that comes in my way. They always push me to be the best person I can be. They make me feel like I can do anything that comes across me. They will never stop believing in me even if a difficult obstacle comes in the way.
To be a happy camper, I believe it is someone who makes themselves involved in activities in their community, always is happy and has a smile on their face. You will know if you are a happy camper if you enjoy helping people and being a role model to people. I am a happy camper because I love being a role model to people.
1. How would you describe the differences between a driver and a passenger during the high school years? –
The difference between a driver and a passenger during the high school years is a driver is someone who doesn’t care what people say about them, takes risks and enjoys everything that they can do to make memories in high school. A passenger is someone who is a follower, cares what people think about them and doesn’t make much memories in high school.
2. When have you been proud of being a driver of your life? Give examples of positive risks you’ve take to get involved? –
I have been proud of myself for being a driver of my life when I don’t care what people think of me. I don’t care if people don’t want to be friends with me. Whatever they say it goes right past me. Also making my own decisions is also what makes me proud. I don’t do things that everyone else does. I’ve taken many positive risks such as not doing other things people do.
3. What have you learned about being a driver or passenger in your own life? –
I have learnt never to care what people say about me. They can say anything they want but doesn’t mean I need to listen and take their advice. It also makes me a stronger person and not to be scared of risks that I might take in life.
4. Who is someone you admire that models being a driver not a passenger? –
My mom models being a driver not a passenger because I know she is not afraid to take risks in her life.
5. How can you be a driver of your life more often during high school? –
I can be more of a driver in high school by making lots of memories by doing things my own way and not caring what anyone says.
When Keri was here, she showed us a a video by Mark Scharenbroich. This video was about making memories in high school. The video had also talked about being a driver not a passenger. Mark meant that you should take advantage of enjoying your high school year and making the most of it not caring what other people think of you. Where as a passenger you follow people around and care what people think of you. Also in the video he said that we keep telling ourselves “as soon as I…” statements. His warning was don’t keep telling yourselves as soon as I do this because then miss out on doing those things and as you grow older you won’t be able to do those things anymore. (EX. As soon as I graduate, I will explore the world more). Keri has said “where did the last 20 years go”. When she said that she meant was that she wished she would have done more things when she was young and had been a driver in her life instead of being a passenger.
I picked 5 occupation quizzes out of all the occupations given to me. I chose surgeon, registered nurse, pediatrician, immunologist, veterinarian.
Surgeon was my top pick for an occupation. I got a 91% match. Surgeons specialize in treating injury, disease, and deformity through operations. I want to become a surgeon because they do amazing things to help people in the world. The requirements that I need to meet to become a surgeon is a bachelor of science degree, and one year of pre-medicine university studies, is usually required. Graduation from an approved medical school and specific specialty training are required. Completion of the certifying examinations of the Royal college of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and Licensing by the provincial or territorial licensing authority are required, four to five years of specialty residency training are required, and two years of sub specialty training may also be required.
Registered nurse was my second pick for an occupation. I got a 90% match. Registered nurses (RN’s) are expected to keep records of patients’ medical histories and symptoms. They help doctors in administering patients’ medicines, diagnostics, and treatments. They monitor a patient’s status and recovery progress, as well as operate medical equipment. The requirements I need to become a registered nurse is completion of a university, college or other approved registered nursing program is required, additional academic training or experience is required to specialize in a specific area of nursing. A masters or doctoral degree in nursing is usually required for clinical nurse specialists, clinical nurses, nursing consultants and nursing researchers, and registration with a regulatory body is required in all provinces and territories.
Pediatrician was my third pick for an occupation. I got a 88% match. Pediatrician’s provide care for infants, children, teenagers, and young adults. They specialize in diagnosing and treating problems specific to younger people. Most pediatricians treat common illnesses, minor injuries, and infectious diseases, and administer vaccinations. Some pediatricians specialize in pediatric surgery or serious medical conditions that commonly affect younger patients, such as autoimmune disorders or chronic ailments. The requirements I need to become a pediatrician is a bachelor of science degree, and one year of pre-medicine university studies, is usually required, graduation from an approved medical school and specific specialty training are required. Completion of the certifying examinations of the Royal college of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and Licensing by the provincial or territorial licensing authority are required, Four to five years of specialty residency training are required. Two years of sub specialty training may also be required.
Immunologist was my fourth occupation pick. I got a 82% match. Immunologists diagnose or treat immunologic conditions by performing diagnostic tests such as skin pricks and intradermal, patch, or delayed hypersensitivity tests. Once tests have been completed, immunologists educate patients about diagnoses and prognoses, and develop an individualized treatment plan. Often, they prescribe medication such as antihistamines, antibiotics, and nasal, oral, topical, or inhaled glucocorticosteroids based on the diagnoses. The requirements I would need to become an immunologist is a bachelor’s degree in biology or in a related discipline is required for biologists, and a master’s or doctoral degree in biology or a related discipline is required for employment as a research scientist in biology.
Veterinarian was my fifth occupation pick. I got a 72% match. Veterinarians care for the health of animals and work to improve public health. They most often care for cats and dogs, but also treat other pets, such as birds, ferrets, and rabbits. These veterinarians diagnose and provide treatment for animal health problems, consult with owners of animals about preventative health care, and carry out medical and surgical procedures, such as vaccinations, dental work, and setting fractures. The requirements I need to become a veterinarian is two years of pre-veterinary university studies or completion of a college program in health science and a four to five year university degree in veterinary medicine and completion of national certification examinations are required. A provincial licence to practice is required, and entry into research positions may require post-graduate study.
I found all of the quizzes interesting because they are what I wanna be when I grow up. They all involve something with the medicine field and that’s what I want to be when I grow up. My favorites were surgeon, registered nurse and pediatrician.
Motivation is the process that initiates, guides, and maintains goal-oriented behaviors. Its what drives us to experience our goals in life and the interests in life. Motivation comes from your biological, emotional, social, and cognitive forces such as if I got into a university for nursing, I would study hard everyday to graduate from that program.
Motivation is what makes you do actions to accomplish interests. There are three things that motivations include:
1) Instincts: The instinct theory of motivation suggests that behaviors are motivated by instincts, which are fixed and inborn patterns of behavior. Psychologists including William James, Sigmund Freud, and William McDougal have proposed a number of basic human drives that motivate behavior. Such instincts might include biological instincts that are important for an organism’s survival such as fear, cleanliness, and love
2) Drives and Needs: Many of your behaviors such as eating, drinking, and sleeping are motivated by biology. You have a biological need for food, water, and sleep. Therefore, you are motivated to eat, drink, and sleep. Drive theory suggests that people have basic biological drives and that your behaviors are motivated by the need to fulfill these drives.
3) Arousal Levels: The arousal theory of motivation suggests that people are motivated to engage in behaviors that help them maintain their optimal level of arousal. A person with low arousal needs might pursue relaxing activities such as reading a book, while those with high arousal needs might be motivated to engage in exciting, thrill-seeking behaviors, such as motorcycle racing.
As people in the world, we need to find what motivates us and take advantage of our interests and actions and pursue whatever in life you might want to take.
I would like to make a lasting impact on people in the world but I know that soon the impact I make will be replaced by people that may make more of a lasting impact. Independence is important to me because when I do a task that a person asks me to do, countless times I will do it by myself. When an interest drives me, I look for opportunities that will help me become a doctor or a nurse.
After I took myBlueprint test on motivation I found out that my top motivation factor was working conditions. Working conditions is the working environment and all existing circumstances affecting labor in the workplace, including job hours, physical aspects, legal rights and responsibilities. My second motivation factor is independence. Independence is where you want to be yourself and not controlled by others. I can control what I do and how long I work for. Lastly my other motivation recommendations were support and recognition. Support are people who you work with that supports me in every decision I make. Recognition is the general acknowledgement for what I do in a job and how I would do it.
Knowledge is the awareness of or familiarity with various objects, events, ideas, or ways of doing things. When babies are born they have no knowledge to begin with as they are newborns. As they grow up they start to develop little bits of knowledge as the mature. Knowledge consists of three elements: 1) a human belief or mental representation about a state that 2) accurately corresponds to the actual state (is true) and that the representation is 3) legitimized by logical and empirical factors. For example, a child, when asked about the molecular nature of water, says “H 2 0” simply because he is parroting what he has heard. In contrast, a chemist who answers “H 2 0” has knowledge because his representation is meaningfully justified by much prior knowledge and careful work.
Numerous philosophers have incredible knowledge as they have created items we use in the world. Galileo invented the telescope to help see stars that are far away. Karl Benz had invented the car/automobile that helped a countless numbers of people back in the day to get from one place to another. Countless numbers of these inventors used their knowledge to be successful in their jobs.
Epistemology is related to knowledge. Epistemology analyzes the nature of knowledge and how it relates to similar notions such as truth, belief and justification. This branch focuses on four main areas of knowledge. Epistemology deals with answering questions that relates to knowledge.
On myBlueprint I took the knowledge quiz and it gave me topics that I am interested in. It stated that my top subject science was a 72%, and language arts and creative arts was a 17%. Numerous occupations that I could be that relate to these are doctors, nurses, teacher, speech helper, and a dance teacher/music teacher and countless more fields of work.
Subjects that I am interested in is science. I look forward to this class everyday because this subject can help me become a doctor or nurse. As I grow up and go into higher grades I might add subjects into my opinion of favourites, but as of right now this is the only one that interests me.
Doctors are trained in medical schools which are usually part of a university. They generally hold a college degree in medicine. Doctors work in hospitals, medical clinics, or may even visit people in their homes. Medical doctors treat patients by finding out what is wrong with them also known as a diagnosis. They ask questions about the patient’s symptoms. These symptoms might include fever or pain. Doctors may ask about past illnesses or family members who have been sick. They will then examine the patient as they look at different parts of the body, listen to the heart and lungs with a stethoscope. Occasionally they may need to collect a sample of blood, use an x-ray machine, or use other tools. When they have gathered enough information, a doctor can make a diagnosis and then plan a treatment which can often be to prescribe drugs.
In a hospital there is more than just one doctor that helps everyone. Some medical doctors only work on certain diseases or injuries, or may only work on one part of the human body. These doctors are called specialists. For example, there are doctors who specialize in diseases of the stomach or intestines. Other medical doctors are “general practitioners” or “family practitioners”. This means that they do a little bit of everything. The general practitioner which is the first doctor a patient will see, and this doctor may decide to send them to a specialist doctor if needed.
There are countless numbers of specialists. Examples are:
Anesthesiologist, a doctor who gives anaesthesia to patients
Dentist, also known in the US as a dental surgeon, is a surgeon who specializes in dentistry — the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases and conditions of the oral cavity.
Ophthalmologist, a doctor who specialises in treating eyes
Podiatrist, a doctor who specialises in treating feet
Psychiatrist, a doctor who specializes in psychiatry, and treats people with mental illness. Psychiatrists can prescribe psychiatric medication.
Surgeon, a doctor who performs surgery
My dream job ever since I young was a doctor or nurse. The reason I have always wanted to be a doctor is because I believe everyone has a chance to live longer and be healthy. I love what they do in hospitals and the doctors who work all day should get recognition. Even though becoming a doctor or nurse take numerous years to finally become fully knowledgeable in this career. To be a fully registered doctor you need to go to school for about 3-7 years. I have looked at a few programs and I have found that you need to have:
- Earn a bachelors degree
- Take a medical college admission test
- Complete a residency program
Earn a medical degree
I would love to take the courses to become a pediatrician. Pediatricians is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. They do surgery’s, take down their vitals and numerous other tasks. I feel like children and infants also deserve the chance to live as long as us. Occasionally, a few infants each will get sick or ill and will need help. All of these reasons is why I want to be a Pediatrician. This has always dream job and I hope it continues to be.
