Hatchet
Imagine being 13 years old have your parents divorce and the reason being you, this can be said about a young man named Brian Robertson. Brain Robertson Is a strong willed person that doesn’t care about what other people think, if he thinks that something should be done for the better good of himself and the others around him to make every situation go from bad to good. The book that I am reading is called Hatchet, Hatchet is a book written by Gary Paulsen and is about the thirteen year old boy I described earlier. The surviving on his own with nothing but a “Hatchet” that his mother gave to him just before he left from the Big Apple, New York CIty, and the morning of his parents’ divorce. Leaving for his fathers place in Canada his mother gives him a little hatchet to keep memory of her while she will be left in New York with no one but herself. There he goes off to his fathers place in Canada and as he is flying above the wilderness he is thinking to himself why did this happen to my parents and was always thinking that it was his fault.
Just as they are arriving to Canada the pilot is in a lot of pain. The pilot was in to be in some sort of chest pain knowing what chest pains can lead to heart attacks and that is what exactly happened to the pilot. If I were ever in a plane and then all of a sudden the pilot has a heat attack and dies I would have probably done exactly what Brian Roberson did, he first tried to save his life and then think about his own. If then he could have saved the pilots life then he could get the plane steady and then save both of their lives. This again is what makes Brian such a good person is why he thinks about other people before himself and that was a prime example.
As the plane is about to crash Brian is doing all he can to save himself and the pilot. The plane is not spinning out of control or anything but he knows that if he does not act fast he and the pilot will be in a lot of trouble. So he sees that there is a microphone and a radio and will try to call for help but as he is trying to he makes that plane fly off course and is about to hit the ground and they will be stranded and will have no idea what they will be in for. As the plane is crash landing Brain tries his best to land it he thinks that the best place to land is on water. While crashing the hit a tree and Brain hits his head in the steering wheel he survives but the pilot does not.
After the crash brian was dazed and confused. He was falling in and out of sleep not know if he was dead or alive, but keep having these dreams about his parents splitting up and in one of those dreams the ‘Truth” is reviled. The truth is that his mother was cheating on his father with another man, a man that turned his world upside down. Then while going and coming in and out of sleep he get sun burnt badly and drinks too much water and then gets sick. After he knows that he has to survive and that he needs to make camp and a fire.
When he builds a camp and a fire gathers enough food to keep him alive he knows that he misses his mother and father being together. He does find some turtle eggs and that will keep him from starving for a little while. While going to get more food Brian is struck by a moose and his hurt very badly. After that he think that going back to the plane to get a survival pack he thinks it is in the plane. There is there is a wealth of survival items in the plane. What if you were alone in the wilderness by yourself what would you do? I think I would do what Brain Robertson did, learn new skills and try to keep yourself alive as long as you can.
Trade Deadline 2010
A trade deadline in pro sports is a rule regulating the trading of professional players’ contracts between clubs. Usually players acquired through trade after the trade deadline are ineligible for postseason play in that season, unless the respective league allows them to replace an injured player on the roster. In some leagues, post-deadline trades may be banned entirely. This term is used mainly in North America In the approach to the deadline, there is heightened activity and interest in trades. The trade deadline for the NHL is usually between early March or mid March.
Just recently this last year, but still the same 2009/2010 NHL season Illya Kovalchuck was traded to the New jersey devils. That trade involved the Atlanta Thrashers dealt their captain, an impending free agent, to the Devils on Thursday night for a package that includes defenseman Johnny Oduya, rookie forward Niclas Bergfors, junior prospect Patrice Cormier and New Jersey’s first-round pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. This was by far the biggest deal this year in the NHL 2010 Deadline
Romanticism
In Blakes poems he tries to use influences on other peoples lives to relate to his poem. There are a lot of people in your life the have influences on you, and those people can change who you are and what you think and do. If the influences know that you look up to them and that some people need them in their lives why do they make bad decisions on what they do and why they do it. This could change what they think of you and what they will think of themselves. Blake uses these influences very well in his poems and relates to the reader much so.
In the first poem Songs of Innocence it is about a boy that lost his mother due to death and his father also left him so the only asset that he had was to work and try to get through his life with a bit of money. So he swept chimneys and this was a very tough job on the body because your always going to be inhaling the soot and in doing this I bet that the life expectancy was very short for whoever did this dirty job. While doing this job he tries ti find out who he is. Even though he had no one but his chimney buddies he still enjoyed doing what he has always known what to do and thats sweep chimney.
If I was in the same predicament as Tom I would probably do the same thing. If I had no one else to turn to and i was doing what he did I would also stay in the sweeping business because he knew that there was his family right there and he enjoyed doing what he did. With what he has done he should be very proud if himself and be honored to be working with who he loves and doing what he loves.
In the second poem as a child during his time chimney sweeping his parents go to church to worship God. While his parents were in church they didn’t allow him to come in so he felt like a little “black thing” in the snow. I would also feel like I was unwanted if my parents didn’t allow me to go into a public place with them. I would feel like i would have no purpose of being their kid. What is the point of bring your kid to church and not bringing him in, I bet that the parents would know that their kid would feel unwanted and thats what you would not want your kid feeling like.
Danger in the News
A 22 year old man faces charges including impaired driving causing death in a crash in Red Deer, Alberta early Sunday that killed a man and a woman. The man, who is from Sedalia, Alberta faces two counts each of impaired driving causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level over 0.08. The accident occurred at about 2 a.m in the morning at the intersection of Ironstone Drive and 30th Avenue in Red Deer. Pronounced dead at the scene were a 35 year old woman and a 34 year old man. The accused was taken to hospital treated for his injuries and then later released. This incident is the first fatal vehicle accident in Red Deer since 2008.
People don’t realize that driving impaired is one of the most dangerous ways to injure or kill innocent people and even yourself. In 2009 there were over 1,106 people caught driving under the influence of alcohol and there were over 2,223 people that got their licence suspended for 24 hours because of their decisions to drive drunk. An impaired driving charge involves a number charges, and if caught you will end up getting charged, have to appear in court, and have your licence suspended. Your insurance for your vehicle will go up and you will usually get your licence taken away for a minimum one year.
The qualities that make a person drink and drive is most likely them thinking that they didn’t even have too much to drink and it will be alright if I drive home just this once nothing will happen. Having your mind set on that is the last thought that your mind should be in state of because drinking and driving is nothing to take lightly. If you don’t have a ride home you should call up a designated driver or get a taxi.
My opinion of the qualities of drinking and driving is that it has no qualities at all because it puts yourself and others in danger of injuries or death. We had a presentation in our school presented by MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) and it was about a young man driving to a party after having a few brews. While driving to the party he has no clue where he is at and then ends up hitting a tree leaving one of his friends with serious head trauma and killing the other, and just leaving him with minor injuries. When you are caught drunk driving it will totally turn your life around. You may not be able to get certain jobs because when caught drunk driving it stays on your driving record for a long long time. Also you could have your friends lives on your conscience for the rest of your life, it’s just not worth risking all that you have on one night of drinking then driving.
Rights and Responsibility
Every point in peoples lives they have to step up and become a man or woman. Stop acting like a kid and throw all of that childish stuff behind us and maybe come back to that every once and a while. But it is time to take Rights and Responsibility into our lives and grasp what lies ahead of us, and i know that when that point in your life comes you will feel more mature and know what Rights and Responsibilities to achieve.
Rights and Responsibilities will eventually come into everyones life weather they like it or not, but the key step in conquering Rights and Responsibilities is to accept what they are and will be. All people are different and unique in their own different way. This is just like humans Rights and Responsibilities they will be different yet they will also be similar to other peoples. For example most people will become parents they have the right to have children and become parents. But they also have the responsibility to become parents and raise their children in the right manner of which they think is the right way to raise their kids.
When people are close or are going to graduate I think that is one of the most specific time that people will face Rights and Responsibilities. I think this because when you graduate that is when you have to get your own job to support yourself, you get you own house to live in, you will have the responsibility to get your own food and clothing for yourself. But you have the right to do this on your own. This is when you will take what you learned and put it to the test. The right to leave and live on your own but the responsibility of taking care of yourself.
Rights and Responsibilities are one of the most dramatical change in your life time. It is when you step up and do what all of the adults do, this will most likely change your life in a positive way. You will learn life experiences on the way. You will conquer what you always have wanted to do. You will become what you have always dreamed of being. But you will face some bumps on the way. Off the bat that is when most people have their troubles, but they usually work their way through everything. This is why I think that Rights and Responsibility is the most important key themes of social justice.
Pharisees and Jesus
In the story there were many laws being made but there was one law that Moses gave the Jews and this was the Mosaic law. The Pharisees said that people who didn’t follow the law were less worthy than the people that did and they were also seen as unclean. Jesus did not agree with this law at all and said that all people are the same no matter if they follow that law or not.
I would agree with Jesus and say that all people should be as worthy as anyone else is. I think this because you just cannot judge people on what they believe or what they don’t. Someone could be the most clean, well mannered person and if they didn’t follow the law they would be seen as unworthy and unclean which I think is wrong.
I also wonder why they would set up such a law? I think it is because they wanted everyone to be like they portrayed themselves to be and this is to be exactly like everyone else. But I do not understand why they would want them to be the same. Everyone has their own special way of expressing themselves to each-other and their own decisions on who and what they want to be. Jesus must have thought the same way because this cause him and the Pharisees to be in conflict.
What does got think about us?
What does God think about us? When that question is asked people ponder whether he even thinks of us as individuals but as a group of humans. But I believe that he thinks of us as individuals based on interests, abilities, and weaknesses. Everyone has different qualities of each of these three topics. Some people might only be good at one or none some people might be good at all of them.
Gods view of a person might change if the persons view were moral or immortally incorrect to his views. His views are to follow the ten commandments and if you don’t follow these commandments or you break the you will be breaking these smaller rules that lead to a way bigger rule the golden rule. We also have to look at ourselves which have three subjects of interests, abilities, and weaknesses.
God will never judge us on any of these subjects but he will take them into consideration. If out interests relate them to him he will think of us as morally right human beings but if he does not he will not judge us on what out interests are. He also will not judge us on out abilities. If we are good at something or not he will always see us humans as equals. Weaknesses are in all human beings but again he will not judge us on anything that we do. God will always see us as equal human beings.
Who do I want to become?
Everyone wants to live life to the fullest. People want to be the best that they can be, they want to be smart as possible, they want to be as popular as possible, and to be the best at everything that they do. So people strive to be the best that they can be. I am also striving to be that best at everything that they do. To be as smart in school as I can, to be the best at what I do.
There are a lot of people in this world that would like to become what they want that sometimes does not happen. They either take the long way to become who they want to be or they take that short and easy way. Sometimes along that road of becoming that person they take a bad road and end up becoming a person that they never wanted to be or they never expected to become that person.
The person that I am trying to become is what I personally know what I will be happy with and that is to get a diploma in high school and enroll into college and go into a career that I will be happy with. Not have a job that I will not like to be going to everyday I would like a job that I will have fun at. I would also like to be a loving and caring father, to start a family someday.
I would also like to know as a person that helped out the community and helped that less fortunate because I think when you put the poorer people who have nothing ahead of yourself that would make you feel great. Also it is one of the most morally acts of kindness to do. That is the person I would like to become and that I will hopefully become.

The emotional weight that these lyrics are trying to portray is that he is remembering that the summer of 69 were the best days of his life and that he will never forget these emotions that occurred during these times. While looking that theses lyrics the idea that pops to my mind is summer memories. Summer memories will never leave yourself will never leave your mind. Im comprehending that Bryan Adams also has the same state of mind as other people have.
Some beliefs are harder to express but I am pondering that the memories of summer are not very hard to express just by looking at the lyrics of summer of 69 it looks like that these emotions are not too hard to be expressed. Im wondering why other emotions are harder to express than others. Im thinking that they are because some people just might be a little embarrassed to express some of the feelings that they have stored in themselves, but some of the feelings that they have expressed with others like summer memories they can express without being embarrassed.
Summer is a very good time to make memories with your friends. I myself have many memories that I will remember for a long time. The song emphisizes the mix emotions that happened during the summer of 69 for Bryan Adams and the rest of the his band that wrote this song. The song relates to a lot of memories and emotions that other people face themselves.
Ambition and Power Driving Us
In a society everyone wants ambition and power, but everyone can’t have what they want but they try to get power and ambition. People want things that other people can’t get or can’t have they want the most expensive cars, rings, houses, pools, and so on, they need everything at the best. How does this drive people? How does this help the economy? How would this help society?
As I said before people want to have power and they want to feed their ambition of having what they want when they want. Lets say your friend just got a brand new vehicle and you have last years vehicle, you want to get a vehicle that is just like his for better. This is what drives people to get more expensive and high tech commodities, they have the new model but then they come out with a bigger, faster, sleeker model which drives people to have the ambition of getting that newer model. People have this apprehensive feeling that if you have top priced goods that you have more power over the people that have the second or lower priced goods just because their vehicle is faster and bigger. But some people don’t think that having everything toped priced is what makes a person happy or make them think that they have power, they consider that having good health and family is what makes them feel good not ambition or power. But with all of the new technology that is coming out today people just cannot resist wanting what they want not seeing what they need. They assume that getting everything is essential for them that if they don’t get that new car they will not be able to live or be seen again, but what is actually essential for most people is good health and family.
People trying to buy everything expensive and top of the line is very helpful to the economy. This puts money in peoples pockets and when people have money they want to spend it and when they spend it that just puts more money in peoples pockets and this goes on. When you are buying expenses at the top price this might affect your pocket a bit but is puts more money into the economy because when the dealership is selling expensive cars they get a wealthy income causing them to get a taste of ambition so when they have money they are going to want to buy expensive priced goods.
Ambition and power would not have a drastic effect on society. People don’t think that society is based on what you have but other people think that that it is most definitely think that society is based on the nice cars and houses, but those are the people that have loads of money and just have so much of it that they just keep on spending and while they spend they just keep on making money not even affecting on their disposable income. But other people don’t just have the money to be buying all of them cars but still have a roof to live under and wheels to get around on they might not be as sharp as the others but they do just what the flashy ones do but just not as dazzling as the others. I would like to base society on nice cars and houses but people just would not like to say that they would like to say that society is based on what is morally right like peace and helping that less fortunate instead of blowing all of your money on cars and houses. If society was based like this for the rich society would be a much better place because you would not see as many people going hungry or not having a place to stay during the cold winter days and nights.
