It starts out with two kids living on a farm with their parents. They have some chickens on the farm but the two kids Crystal and Cole hate the chickens, they don’t know why they have them because no one likes them anyway. Apparently that was their parents dream though, to have a farm and raise chickens. Cole and Crystal took turns feeding the chickens even though they both hated them. One weekend when their parents left they decided to forget about the chickens and go out with friends.

They went out with friends and tried playing a joke on a Gothic girl named Vanessa. They were going to fill up her mail both with water. Vanessa lived in a big black house just out of town. Before they tried their prank they thought of something. Once before a kid in their class tried a prank on her she cast a spell on him and made his head swell up. The kid had moved away now because of this spell. The kids decided to do the prank anyway.

When they were filling up the mailbox they heard the front door open. They all scattered away and ran all the way back to Crystal and Cole’s house. The next day they were playing football up town. Cole said to his sister go long so she ran and ran and ran, she turned back to catch it and behind her walking out of a store was Vanessa. Vanessa was walking out of the grocery store and when they collided Crystal and spilled all hergroceries. Crystal helped her pick them up but as she was helping Vanessa whispered “Chicken Chicken”

Crystal didn’t know why she said that. In a few days she figured out why she said that. Crystal and her brother started to turn into a chicken. The began growing feathers on there necks and there lips began to go hard as a beak would. They were wondering what to do when they decided that she must have cast a spell on us. They thought there must have been a way to rewind the spell and they would become normal again. They ran to Vanessa house to see if a spell book was there so they could reverse the spell.

When they were in the house Vanessa came in and by this time they had tried to reverse the spell so many times that they became little chicks. Vanessa knew it must have been them because they had the spell book out. Crystal and Cole couldn’t even speak because they were little chicks. Vanessa had a typewriter on the table next to her and Crystal seen it. She thought this was there last chance to survive. She jumped from Vanessa hands on the typewriter. She began to a sorry letter. Vanessa saw the note and felt bad for them so decided to turn them back to normal. After they turned back to human Vanessa asked them if they would like a drink. Crystal and Cole said yeas please because Vanessa is a manors freak. After they took a long drink of soda Cole let out a huge burp. Crystal couldn’t hold it back and started to laugh, this made Cole laugh too. Cole did not say, “Excuse me” and that ticked off Vanessa, then she pointed at Cole and then to Crystal and whispered “Pig Pig”.

The book starts with DR Brewer (he is scientist who research on plants) shifts his experiments into the basement because he gets fired from his job. One day Casey and Margaret (Dr Brewer’s kids) went into the basement to call their dad but unfortunately they get yelled at by their dad and he said Stay out of the basement! One day Casey, Margaret and Diane (Casey and Margaret’s friend) decide to go to the basement to check out some of their dad’s cool experiment. When they reach the basement they saw like lots of huge moving plants similar to the ones at rain forest. After seeing all the experiment they go upstairs they saw Dr Brewer in the lawn talking to his neighbor. That’s when Casey remembers that he forgot his shirt in the basement. Then he goes downstairs to get his shirt.

After a while later Margaret was tired of waiting for Casey so she went downstairs that’s when she was in deep shock that her brother was grabbed by a huge plant so Margaret and Diane started to pull Casey and they managed to pull him out. When they were about to go upstairs they saw their dad in the staircase staring at them with a fierce face but his mood was calm. From that incident Dr Brewer got a lock so he can lock the door of the basement. One day when Margaret was downstairs to get something to eat from the refrigerator she saw her dad eating something when she checked what it was she was in a deep shock again. He was eating plant food! This seen in the book reminded me about a movie I was watching one night. The movie is called Ace Ventura when Ace ate the Bat Droppings, it just popped up in my head when he was eating that disgusting plant food.

This book ends really dumb, the kids were in the basement and they heard this thumping noise in the storage closet. The decided to go see what it was. They broke through the door and they seen a whole bunch more plants. They were thick and plentiful. They searched through the plants and they found human feet. They decided to see what it was and it ended up being there real dad. The dad they had been living with for the past few days was just a copy of their real dad. He was a plant, when they untied there real dad he said it was an experiment gone wrong. They had to kill the other dad which was a plant.

They killed him and there real dad said he was going to get rid of the science experiment room in the basement and turn it into a recreational room for the kids. They got all the plants destroyed and some were moved out in to the back yard in the garden. They went shopping that following weekend and bought a pool table to put in the basement. When things began to become normal around the house Margaret went out side and sat at the garden, thats when she heard a voice. She looked down and a little plant was saying “Help me I am your real dad”. I recommend this book to any person that likes to read a nice intense, and interesting book.
