Community ;)

Community

What does community mean to me? By definition it means a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common. But I believe a community means much more than that, I think a community is your friends and family, your teachers and people you look up to. I see it as the people you love and the places that you call home. For me the community I live in and live with has major impacts on my life. It affects the way I make decisions, how I get out of bed in the morning, and what I do on a day-to-day basis.

My friends and family are a massive part of my community. My friends are considered family in my life and I’m so grateful to have them. They show constant support and love to help me feel welcome in my community. My family always has my back no matter what. They’re amazing people who give inspiration of who I want to be when I get older, and they also show me whats acceptable and whats not. My family has taught me many virtues such as love, patience, and respect. They are probably the biggest part of my community.

Where I have grown up and continue has also greatly affected my life. My community, other than the people in my life, mainly is my hometown Clandonald, My school St. Jeromes, my house, our school’s gym, and my friend’s houses. My school teaches me the many different subjects I will need to survive in life. However I don’t think that school can teach you everything. I believe that I have also learned many amazing life skills from my hometown and home as well such as ; dedication, hard work, and courage. My friend, Paige’s, house and lake are like a second home to me. I have learned to do water sports, deal with eating too much sugar, and how to catch a massive killer fish. I also learned what it was like to have a true best friend that is with you no matter what. Our school’s gym offers refuge at lunch and in the mornings when I need a few minutes to zone out. It’s the perfect place to perfect any athletic skills ( especially in volleyball) and to ask for help.  I’m extremely thankful for the gym being open in the mornings and at lunch because those ( aside from practice/games) are pretty much the only times I can work on skills and get help on improving them.

I feel that community has a different meaning to each person. It can simply mean the environment in which you grow up in, or it can mean the way you live. For me this is how I define community and explain how it plays a role in my life.
