What Does it Mean to be Human?

Being human means having the ability to understand and feel. We have a conscience that allows for us to feel, and make decisions that would be considered “moral.” We were built with a strength and a conscience that is meant to perform without limits. Every person has the potential to read, discover, and uncover. We are eligible to grasp concepts that will not limit our learning. We do not just bark; we speak, communicate, and connect with emotion.

As they run in the desert, a lion will always catch a deer for the pride. Without guilt, they will bring the deer back, regardless of its size. This lion is performing within its limits. It will never bring the deer back to the pride, feel bad about its size, and go back and find a larger deer, that it will not feel guilty for bringing back. They have no opinion. Only humans are suitable to feeling this guilt. If two parents are not capable of feeding their family, they will carry this pang of guilt until the end of time.

Morality is the principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior. In order to live in this world, we must trust others mortality. We must trust that the people we occupy a room with, will not suddenly kill us one day. For example, if someone were to kill another being, their morality would not have been formed properly. It had not matured. They can not make the distinction between what is right and what is wrong. It is something rare and sacred that we must not take for granted. Your soul does not evolve, however your mortality does as you live to experience what is right and wrong.

Humans have the ability to connect and understand. Ever since we are children, we are able to differentiate objects from one another and able to communicate what it is that we want. When a child points at an object it is showing its understanding. They have taken the time to figure out what it is used for, whether that means by listening to an adult ro figuring it out themselves through trial and error. Understanding is not designed to make us happy, but designed to expand our knowledge.

Each and every soul has the potential to grow. We were built with a conscience that allows us to feel guilt and pain. That puts us above all other species. We are greater than the sum of our parts. All of the little things that form our souls, like conscience, morality, and understanding, allow us to be so much more than just a body on the earth.
