Commandments of the Church

The 5 commandments of the church:

  1.  You shall attend Mass on Sundays and on holy days of obligation and rest from servile labor.
  2. You shall confess your sins at least once a year.
  3. You shall receive the sacrament of the Eucharist at least once during the Easter season.
  4. You shall observe the days of fasting and abstinence established by the Church.
  5. You shall help to provide for the needs of the Church.

The commandments of the church are a way for Christians to show how much they cherish god. It’s like a list of things, and if you do them you are a proper Christian, but if you don’t then you’re not being true to god or to yourself. another name for ‘commandments of the church’ is ‘precepts of the church’.

Multiple Signs of Intelligence in the Bible

2 examples of the importance and/or value of musical intelligence-  They used music to help people see the will of God and see there plan for us, they used music to show a different way of appreciating God.  — 1 Samuel 16:23-His music is helping to heal the soul of the people and ward the evil through the joint passion of music. He also helped him to see that music can connect people.

3 people who are word smart-  Moses, Aaron,  Philip-  It says that Moses isn’t the best and equal to everyone else. And he wants Jesus to speak to everyone doesn’t matter what’s wrong with them. And that will make his heart happy.

2 people who use logical intelligence- Moses- Exodus 18:13-27- People came to Moses to inquire about God. When they have a dispute, they come to me and I decide between one person or another and I make known to them the statutes and instructions of God. His father-in-law helped him. Also Thomas.

2  people whose understanding of Jesus is rooted in the intelligence of relationships- Peter and Simon-   Luke 5:4-11- Peter started to understand Jesus when Simon and Peter pulled the nets full of fish into the boat and the boat started sinking.  Peter fell to his knees, saying that Jesus shouldn’t help him because he had sinned. Jesus said to Peter that he was forgiven and that He can teach them about His forgiveness.

1 person who is self smart- Paul- 1 Corinthians 2:1-5 It means that Paul used his fear as his intelligence to face the fears of the spirits.

3 passages that rely on spatial intelligence-  John 1: 3-9- This verse explains how God sent John down to spread his message and bring light to the world. John uses his spatial intelligence to bring light to a world of darkness., Mark 13: 24-27-  This passage is about The Son of Man and about what will happen when he comes, Ezekiel 1: 4-28- The passage talks about the glory of God. It tells about creatures, gleaming of beryl, tall and awesome, shining like crystal and a sound of the tumult which is a loud loud sound. It talks about splendor all around. It almost sounds unbelievable but when they saw this appearance it was the Lord they fell on their knees in awe and listened to God’s voice.

1 person who uses physical intelligence to understand Jesus- Martha-Jesus entered a certain village where Martha welcomed him into her home.   Luke 10:38-42………… When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him.  John 11:20-22

Section A

Summary: It is just like what path you want to take when you are older the good one or the bad one

Luke 10:38-42

Who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he was saying.  Mary sat listening to the lord while Martha (mary’s sister) did work.  Martha wanted mary’s help to do the jobs but she was listening to Jesus.  Martha asked Jesus for his help to tell Mary to help her do her work but Jesus tells her that Mary chose the best choice, to listen to Jesus.

Mary was listening to Jesus but Martha was too distracted to listen. Martha wanted God to fix her problems but Mary would sit and listen to God rather than help Martha.

Mary chose to listen and learn to Jesus rather than Martha was distracted and did not want to listen to Jesus.

Mary listened to Jesus to what he had to say rather than help Martha.  I think Mary is going to do nothing to help and listen to God.

Summary: John 11:5-6   Lazarus grows ill and Jesus stays with him for 2 days while Mary and Martha leave.

Landan- Jesus loved them all and felt the need to stay longer for Lazarus because he was sick.

Jesus loved all three of them and felt the need to stay with Lazarus because he was very ill and the other two were not so he left them to stay with him.  He stayed two days longer so he was there for Lazarus.

Jesus’s attitude towards Martha, May, and Lazarus is that he loved them all and he even stayed two days because he was ill and didn’t want him to be alone.

Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus and when he found out that Lazarus was ill he stayed for 2 days because he didn’t want to be left alone. /

Summary- John 11:20-22

Martha went to see Jesus and Mary stayed home.  Martha was then upset with Jesus because Lazarus had died.

Martha blames God for Lazarus dying. I don’t think that Martha has a good relationship with God or she wouldn’t blame him.

Martha’s faith is not based on logic was based on just her opinion, it would not make sense if someone is not there and someone dies that the person who is not there it’s their fault.

Martha’s faith was based on that she had lost trust in God and she blames him for letting Lazarus for dying.  I think she had a good relationship with him until he died and then now she doesn’t have a good relationship because of blaming him for letting Lazarus die.

Martha’s faith in the lord is based on her relationship with Jesus because she believes that if   was with her brother he wouldn’t have died and she had faith that if he stayed he wouldn’t have died.  Lazarus dies and Martha believes if Jesus stayed he would still be alive. Summary: It is just like what path you want to take when you are older the good one or the bad one

.Luke 10:38-42

Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he was saying.  Mary sat listening to the lord while martha (mary’s sister) did work.

Section B

Exodus 4:10-17

Moses told the Lord to pardon his servants because he has never been eloquent not in the past or since he spoke to them. The Lord said back that he is slow of speech and tough and because Moses complained that he could not speak well, God appointed Aaron as Moses’ “prophet”. At the command of Moses, he took his staff. Then he stretched out his rod to bring on the first three signs.

It says that Moses isn’t the best and equal to everyone else. And he wants Jesus to speak to everyone doesn’t matter what’s wrong with them. And that will make his heart happy.

What is Aaron’s role?

Aaron’s role was to speak for Moses from Jesus.

Section F

Luke 5:4-11

When does Peter first begin to understand Jesus?

Answer: Peter started to understand Jesus when Simon and Peter pulled the nets full of fish into the boat and the boat started sinking.  Peter fell to his knees, saying that Jesus shouldn’t help him because he had sinned. Jesus said to Peter that he was forgiven and that He can teach them about His forgiveness.

Summary: The reading is taken from the well-known story of

Matthew 14:24-33

What does Peter do when he sees Jesus?

Jesus appeared to the disciples and said, “Take heart, it is I, do not be afraid”  Peter then answered Jesus and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water”. Peter did not react the same way as the other disciples that saw, and feared Jesus.  Instead, Peter answered Jesus’ question and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” Jesus then said, “Come.” As Peter got out of the boat, he then started walking on the water and came towards Jesus. While Peter was walking towards Jesus, Peter noticed a strong wind, and began to sink he then cried out to Jesus, “Lord save me!” Jesus then immediately reached out his hand and caught him. Jesus then said “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”. When Peter sees Jesus he answers, and follows him out onto the water.

Matthew 17:1-8

What does Peter suggest in this passage?

Peter suggests that these mountains are a great place to be, so he says he can make three dwellings for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah.  Peter suggests that these mountains are a great place because the sun lights up Jesus’ face like lanterns, and Jesus talks to them shortly after his clothes became dazzling white.

John 13:3-10

What does Jesus do?  How does Peter respond?

This passage is from the time around Jesus’ Passion.  Holy Thursday; when Jesus and His disciples are having the Last Supper in the upper room.  Jesus presents himself to his disciples as a servant, and washes their feet in a basin. When Jesus offers to clean him, Peter responds in a stubborn manner, stating that unless Peter washes Jesus’ feet, Jesus can have no share with him.  Simon Peter continues to say that if Jesus is to clean His disciples, He should not only wash his feet but also his hands and his head.

Based on these passages, which of the intelligences does Peter often use to understand and respond to Jesus?

Based on these passages, I can infer that Peter responds to Jesus with interpersonal intelligence.  Interpersonal intelligence is knowledge derived from social interaction with other people. In the first passage, Peter displays great humility, but Jesus forgave Peter, and offered to teach Peter of his great forgiveness.  This tells us that Peter knows Jesus would have some form of response to his actions, thus further confirming his knowledge of interpersonal intelligence. Passage two further develops Peter’s responses to Jesus. We read of Peter’s response to Jesus’ pleas for him to come out onto the water with him.  Peter comes as Jesus commands him. In passage three, Peter recognizes the presence of others, and offers to make dwellings for them. Passage four shows another act of Peter’s humility, telling Jesus that his feet, hands and head all need to be washed to really be clean.

Section G

Romans 7:14-23

The Inner Conflict

For we know that the law is spiritual; but I am of the flesh, sold into slavery under sin. I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree that the law is good. But in fact it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot do it. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me.

So I find it to be a law that when I want to do what is good, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God in my innermost self, but I see in my members another law at war with the law of my mind, making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.

Who does Paul talk about as he tries to explain law and grace?

Paul speaks of sin and how it makes him make the wrong choices and do what he does not want to do. Paul is talking about himself and how he is sinning.

The passage talks about how Paul is admitting that he has sinned and that he does not do what he wants to do but what he hates.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5

Proclaiming Christ Crucified

When I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come proclaiming the mystery of God to you in lofty words or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I came to you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. My speech and my proclamation were not with plausible words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God.

What does Paul say helped reveal the power of the spirit?

Paul reveals the power of the spirit by saying he chose not to know nothing among him except for Jesus Christ and him being crucified. He came to the spirit and said this he was in fear.

He also asked for his help in what to do.

2 Corinthians 12:7-10

even considering the exceptional character of the revelations. Therefore, to keep me from being too elated, a thorn was given to me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me, to keep me from being too elated. Three times I appealed to the Lord about this, that it would leave me, but he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.“ So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for the sake of Christ; for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.

Paul understands that in his grace the law that God has given him is visible.

Which of the intelligences is Paul using in these passages to help people understand God?

Paul used fear as his intelligence to face the fears of the spirit.

Fr Joy’s first visit

Date:  September 26, 2019

Today was Fr Joy’s first-ever visit. We learned that Fr. Joy moved from Kerala and that it was very hot there.  Kerala had certain times that it was rainy, and the rest of the time was sunny and hot.  In Kerala, there were certain times that there would be rain, and there wasn’t just a little drizzle like us in Canada get, it was pouring from the rain clouds.

Location of Kerala

Fr. Joy worked at St. Trissah and St. Thomas in Edmonton before he moved to work in vermilion.  we also learned that his sister moved out at 18 to learn about pediatrics, and is a pediatrician in India still. He said that his sister has inspired him to become a priest.

Motivations (Survey)

Some things motivate us and some things don’t. Everyone is different. Some people live off of negative experiences and that doesn’t motivate us to do positive. Some people live off of positive experiences and that motivates us to do positive things. See what I’m getting at?

Support is to be loved and to love. To be happy and encouraged. When you are incouraged then you are to work better and be happier. Support can be when you are allowed to speak your mind, or for someone to pay for somthing you enjoy to do.

Achievements are what we have successfully done. Achievements may include accomplishing your goals in life, dance, or school. Achievements are easier to succeed when you are going through support.

Support is always amazing and achievements are easier to succeed when you are being supported.  Support and Achievements are my favorite types of motivation.

Knowledge (Survey)

Everyone specializes in a specific subject, activity. Everyone is different and will have a different favorite subject, so don’t expect to like the same things as your friends (something I learned the hard way). For example, my favorite subjects are creative arts and physical education, but others may have Computers and English.

When people enjoy creative arts that usually means that they are a very creative person, with a big imagination. When they are given a chance to be creative they let there mind go wild. Some people who enjoy creative arts maybe artist, photographers, but also dancers, figure skaters, are also creative. They have to be able to visualize there choreography to do it to the best of there advantage. Certain dances need to have creative imaginations to show more emotion.

Physical Education is like a gym or a physed. It is physical activity, working hard to keed your heart beating and your body moving. Some examples of this are like speedball, volleyball, basketball, hockey, but also things that include creative arts such as figure skating, and dance.

In total my favorite knowledgeable subjects are Physical Education and Creative Arts. Both subjects can come hand in hand, and I most often enjoy when they do!

Interests (Survey)

On myBlueprint I did a survey that told me what my interests were, I was told that I am, 67%  artistic and 75% realistic.  I am a dancer, which means I dance 6/7 days of the week. During any spare time, I perfect any 12 of my dances, (including solos).  I recently broke my ankle, which has put my behind in points, I constantly try to push my ankle and prepare for pointe shoes. In order to get pointes, I have to think realistically and work at it every day. I need to artistically be prefarted to use my art expertise to work on the steps to any dance but also so make any choreography my own.

The 10th Commandment

The poor in spirit can lack many different things, happiness, gratefulness, kindness. That’s when people with great desires come help, or should anyway. They can come to help lift spirits and have great desires to make others feel better. Examples of this could be, helping clean up a mess, helping study for a test, share a joke. but every happy spirit-lifting desire counts.

Personality (Survey)

Different people have different personality’s. When you complete the survey ‘personality’ you find out what personality you have, and what figures shape that personality. According to the personality survey, I am ‘ENTJ Fieldmarshal’ my information gathering and the way I prefer to prosses information is called, iNtuiting. Which means I tend to make connections through what I’m learning to things I already know. My energy is Extroverted, I am comfortable in large groups, and am a very social person. My desition making is Thinking, I focus on the final product. My lifestyle and structure are Judging, I am organized thoughtful and fair, and I seek closure to tasks.

Who Am I? Learning styles (Survey)

I am 39% a Kinesthetic learner. Meaning that I learn through hands-on experiences. Such as writing the same thing I want to memorize over and over again. I do tend to physically memorize things (such as sorting and organizing cue cards) the best.

Also being 32% an auditory learner, I can read out loud the same sentence, word, paragraph, over and over again to memorize it. I may also listen to someone read and explain the desired thing I want to remember or study, but I learn better during a hands-on activity.

Personally, the way I learn the worst is through visualization as I am only 29%. A visual learner can learn by watching and only needs to see things to remember and learn them. I am not a visual learner meaning I don’t fully take in the things when I am only looking, seeing, and watching. Instead, I learn better when I am doing a hands-on activity.
