Task 2

Set A

Summary: It is just like what path you want to take when you are older the good one or the bad one

Luke 10:38-42    What does Mary do?

Cater- Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he was saying.  Mary sat listening to the lord while Martha (mary’s sister) did work. Martha wanted mary’s help to do the jobs but she was listening to Jesus.  Martha asked Jesus for his help to tell Mary to help her do her work but Jesus tells her that Mary chose the best choice, to listen to Jesus.

Landan- Mary was listening to Jesus but Martha was too distracted to listen. Martha wanted God to fix her problems but Mary would sit and listen to God rather than help Martha.

Madison-Mary chose to listen and learn to Jesus rather than Martha was distracted and did not want to listen to Jesus

Dallyn- Mary listened to Jesus to what he had to say rather than help Martha.  I think Mary is going to do nothing to help and listen to God.

Summary: John 11:5-6   Lazarus grows ill and Jesus stays with him for 2 days while Mary and Martha leave.

What is Jesus’ attitude toward Mary, Martha, and Lazarus?

Landan- Jesus loved them all and felt the need to stay longer for Lazarus because he was sick.

Jesus loved all three of them and felt the need to stay with Lazarus because he was very ill and the other two were not so he left them to stay with him.  He stayed two days longer so he was there for Lazarus.

Jesus’s attitude towards Martha, May, and Lazarus is that he loved them all and he even stayed two days because he was ill and didn’t want him to be alone.

Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus and when he found out that Lazarus was ill he stayed for 2 days because he didn’t want to be left alone.

SummaryJohn 11:20-22 What is Martha’s faith based on? Logic? A Convincing argument? Her relationship with Jesus.

Martha went to see Jesus and Mary stayed home.  Martha was then upset with Jesus because Lazarus had died.

Landan-  Martha blames God for Lazarus dying. I don’t think that Martha has a good relationship with God or she wouldn’t blame him.

Martha’s faith is not based on logic was based on just her opinion, it would not make sense if someone is not there and someone dies that the person who is not there it’s their fault.

Martha’s faith was based on that she had lost her trust in God and she blames him for letting Lazarus for dying.  I think she had a good relationship with him until he died and then now she doesn’t have a good relationship because of blaming him for letting Lazarus die.

Martha’s faith in the lord is based on her relationship with Jesus because she believes that if Jesus was with her brother he wouldn’t have died and she had faith that if he stayed he wouldn’t have died. Lazarus dies and Martha believes if Jesus stayed he would still be alive.

Set B

Exodus 4:10-17  B

Moses told the Lord to pardon his servants because he has never been eloquent not in the past or since he spoke to them.   The Lord said back that he is slow of speech and tough and because Moses complained that he could not speak well, God appointed Aaron as Moses’ “prophet” .  At the command of Moses, he took his staff. Then he stretched out his rod in order to bring on the first three signs.

It says that Moses isn’t the best and equal to everyone else.  And he wants Jesus to speak to everyone doesn’t matter what’s wrong with them.  And that will make his heart happy. -Hunter

What is Aaron’s role?

Aarons’s role was to speak for Moses from Jesus.

Acts 8:26-38

The angel told Philip to go south to the road that leads from Jerusalem to Gaza. There he would worship Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. Philip is taken by the Holy Spirit to meet a highly placed Ethiopian court official who is reading Isaiah on the way home from Jerusalem. The Ethiopian asks for and receives baptism as a believer in Jesus as God’s Messiah, promised by Isaiah.-

It’s about he said to go to the road south of Jerusalem go to court official of the Cadence queen of the Ethiopians. He came to Jerusalem to worship and return home he was reading the prophet of Isaiah. He had Philip help him understand the bible. And taught him the good news about Jesus. They found water and said what is to stop him from getting baptized and they stopped and Philip baptized him.-Hunter

Who are the two people in this story?

Philip and Eunuch

Why does one of them choose to be baptized?

As they were going along the road, they came to some water; and the eunuch said, ‘Look, here is water! What is to prevent me from being baptized!“He commanded the chariot to stop,” and both of them, Philip and the eunuch, went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.

Set D

John 1:3-9 – Jesus is described as the beginning of life and all-new creation. Without him, nothing would have been created. There would be no light to overcome the darkness.  John was sent by god to prove to people that he is true.

Mark 13:24-27 – Jesus describes the world in chaos, with the sun going dark. Then he says he will come in his glory, and bring light back to the world. If you’re in the dark, Jesus can bring the light back.

Ezekiel 1: 4-28 – Ezekiel uses images to help understand God.  Ezekiel explained what he saw. He told about the four creatures,  that they had four different heads, and they had 2 wings each. He said they walked in a line with their wings touching and went with the spirit, never turning. Ezekiel also explained about the clouds and wind the creatures were surrounded by.  People were going to Moses, and he was settling their troubles and telling them the instructions of God.

Set E

Exodus 18:13-27 – People came to Moses with their problems so he could settle the arguments, Moses gave them the instructions from God to help them solve their disagreements or problems. Moses’s father-in-law helped him realize that he would need help to talk to all those people. He told Moses that he should find good people so they could help him. They could help with minor situations, but they would come to Moses with important cases.

What is Moses’ problem?

His problem is that he is solving all the people’s problems through god and he is only one man. This will tire Moses and the people too.

Who helps him solve it in a logical step by step way?

Moses’s father-in-law told him to find people to help him with this task and give the word of God.

John 20:24-29 – After Jesus had risen, he came to the disciples but Thomas wasn’t with them. When he heard about Jesus’s visit, he didn’t believe them. He said that unless he put his finger in the hole in Jesus’s hand he wouldn’t believe. Jesus came back when they were all together. Thomas saw Jesus and believed. Jesus told him to believe even if you haven’t seen something, he said, “Blessed are those have not seen and yet have come to believe.”

Whose need for proof does Jesus understand and accept?

Thomas needed proof that Jesus had risen and Jesus accepted that and understood it, but told him to believe without seeing.

John 11:16

Thomas who was called a twin said to the disciples to let them go so they can die with him.

Who has a very matter-of-fact attitude?

Thomas

What does he say?

Thomas said to let them go so they can die with him.

Set F

Luke 5:4-11

When does Peter first begin to understand Jesus?

Peter started to understand Jesus when Simon and Peter pulled the nets full of fish into the boat and the boat started sinking.  Peter fell to his knees, saying that Jesus shouldn’t help him because he had sinned. Jesus said to Peter that he was forgiven and that He can teach them about His forgiveness.

Matthew 14:24-33

What does Peter do when he sees Jesus?

Jesus appeared to the disciples and said, “Take heart, it is I, do not be afraid”  Peter then answered Jesus and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water”. Peter did not react the same way as the other disciples that saw and feared Jesus.  Instead, Peter answered Jesus’ question and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” Jesus then said, “Come.” As Peter got out of the boat, he then started walking on the water and came towards Jesus. While Peter was walking towards Jesus, Peter noticed a strong wind, and began to sink he then cried out to Jesus, “Lord save me!” Jesus then immediately reached out his hand and caught him. Jesus then said “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”. When Peter sees Jesus he answers and follows him out onto the water.

  Matthew 17:1-8

What does Peter suggest in this passage?

Peter suggests that these mountains are a great place to be, so he says he can make three dwellings for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah.  Peter suggests that these mountains are a great place because the sun lights up Jesus’ face like lanterns, and Jesus talks to them shortly after his clothes became dazzling white.

John 13:3-10

What does Jesus do?  How does Peter respond?

This passage is from the time around Jesus’ Passion.  Holy Thursday; when Jesus and His disciples are having the Last Supper in the upper room.  Jesus presents himself to his disciples as a servant and washes their feet in a basin. When Jesus offers to clean him, Peter responds in a stubborn manner, stating that unless Peter washes Jesus’ feet, Jesus can have no share with him.  Simon Peter continues to say that if Jesus is to clean His disciples, He should not only wash his feet but also his hands and his head.

Based on these passages, which of the intelligence does Peter often use to understand and respond to Jesus?

Based on these passages, I can infer that Peter responds to Jesus with interpersonal intelligence.  Interpersonal intelligence is knowledge derived from social interaction with other people. In the first passage, Peter displays great humility, but Jesus forgave Peter and offered to teach Peter of his great forgiveness.  This tells us that Peter knows Jesus would have some form of response to his actions, thus further confirming his knowledge of interpersonal intelligence. Passage two further develops Peter’s responses to Jesus. We read of Peter’s response to Jesus’ pleas for him to come out onto the water with him.  Peter comes as Jesus commands him. In passage three, Peter recognizes the presence of others and offers to make dwellings for them. Passage four shows another act of Peter’s humility, telling Jesus that his feet, hands, and head all need to be washed to really be clean.

Romans 7:14-23

The Inner Conflict

For we know that the law is spiritual; but I am of the flesh, sold into slavery under sin. I do not understand my own actions. I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree that the law is good. But in fact, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot do it. I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me.

So I find it to be a law that when I want to do what is good, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God in my innermost self, but I see in my members another law at war with the law of my mind, making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.

Who does Paul talk about as he tries to explain law and grace?

Paul speaks of sin and how it makes him make the wrong choices and do what he does not want to do. Paul is talking about himself and how he is sinning.

The passage talks about how Paul is admitting that he has sinned and that he does not do what he wants to do but what he hates.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5

Proclaiming Christ Crucified

When I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come proclaiming the mystery of God to you in lofty words or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I came to you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. My speech and my proclamation were not with plausible words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God.

What does Paul say helped reveal the power of the spirit?

Paul reveals the power of the spirit by saying he chose not to know nothing among him except for Jesus Christ and him being crucified. He came to the spirit and said this he was in fear.

He also asked for his help in what to do.

Commandments of the church

To me, I think that the commandments of the church are a good set of rules like the first one you shall go and confess at least once a year, I like this because you should tell someone your feelings because it is bad for you to keep them bottled up inside you would feel much better if you let them out. The rest of the commandments are about giving back which to me is a good thing you should always want to give back, to your community and maybe even your school or a local charity.  In the commandments to me, you should get baptized in order to do all of these things but in some of them, you don’t have to be baptized to do it like give back.

Farther Joy

Today I first met Farther Joy. He is originally from a small province in India it is called Kerala is has more people than Alberta in one small area it is almost half the size of Nova Socia. Farther Joy is a nice guy, today he gave us an exercise to do to help us feel fresh ( it didn’t work for me).  I thought that it was cool to hear about his country and all about him.

Farther Joy talked about how he got to come to Vermilion. He said that he always knew that he wanted to become a priest for a long time, he said that in grade 10 he told his parents that he wanted to become a priest, his sister knew that he wanted to be a priest. When his sister moved out she became a nun. His parents told him that he needs to stay in school for at least two years. When he finished school he was a bit scared to tell his parents that he wanted to become a priest, so even when he was studying he still never told his parents. One day he asked them if he could be transported to work somewhere new. They told him there is a place in Germany but he did not want to take it because he did not want to learn a different language, so they said well there is one in Canada he took it. He had to work in Edmonton at the St. Theresa, I think he worked there for three months. than he got a job here at the Holy Name of Jesus.

I think that Farther Joy will be a good priest.

Good Desires

Madison Macdonald

There is a difference between the poor and the poor in spirit. The poor means that they don’t have a lot of money to do a lot, some people that are poor live on the streets to me they have been through a lot and we just need tho help them out. Poor in spirit means that those people that are poor in spirit need to help out the poor and do some nice things in their life.  Thing that we can do in our school has a fundraiser and then the money, we get to split it in half and give the rest to a charity or give it all to charity.  Even if you see someone who is poor help them out, buy them food or give them some money.
