Half Pint Presentation
Half Pint Presentation
Event type: Conference
Date: 2007-03-16
The Canadian Half Pints is a anti bullying group made up of just dwarfs, The whole organization is there to teach us the affects that bullying can have on any one who lets it happen to them. The portion of the group that we were privileged enough to see consisted of only three dwarfs; Jordan, Frenchie, and Alex.
They came to St.Jeromes on March 13 2007, they each told us something about themselves and each of them had a very interesting story to tell. Jordan’s story was that he was bourn in Florida, and was teased at school and they said that he would never be able to play basketball, but his parents told him to do what he wants to do and then he became very good at the sport. Frenchie was a pro wrestler in the 1970’s and still holds records to this day, and on top of that he is 60 years old and can beat out us young kids at a plank balance! Alex didn’t talk much during the show the little parts of his story that he told was that he had a girlfriend who was also a dwarf, an they had the same type of dwarfism, the only thing wrong with them was that there arms and legs were shorter.
Nearer to the end of the presentation the three of them tried to play some of the selected students in our school, 3 on 3. It was hard to keep score because the “little people” kept calling time outs and giving each of us a little more information on the subject of bullying. Apparently the Canadian Half Pints had played over 3000 games and only lost about 11 of the games.
I thought the presentation was sort of like a broken record they told us the same things that all the other presentations have in the past. They told us about different bullying situations and how we should deal with it. Like at the end of the presentation they threw a plate of whip cream in Mr.Macmillins face, they then after that said that they told him what was going to happen. They said that if we are going to pull a practical joke on someone that we should tell them first, but doesn’t that sort of defy the point of a practical joke? I personally thought that that part of the routine was one of the dumbest things that I have been told. Never once has one person in my life ever told me that they were going to pull a prank on me, if they had I would have avoided it just like most of the world would do so then the world would never have any of the great comics of today. All of there acts make fun of someone else.
But all together the presentation was a good one I personally would not have them back at our school, but that may be because I have already seen the act and want a new one.

Those dwarfs are really cool for achieving their dreams, what dreams are you trying to achieve?

I agree that they should have had a full team of “little people.”

i really enjoyed this presentation because they taught the kids and everyone that bullying isnt nice and you should never do it.
They are super cool because even though they are dwarfs they still come to show everyone what bullying does. Good post.
