A Journey to Nowhere: Alone
Ahead of us lies natures backyard
Irresistibly beautiful, we wander
Into the dark hollows of the trees
The beginning of the very end,
The beginning of nowhere
Fear pulses throughout our veins
This forest scenery is so unfamiliar
Crackling. Snapping. Breaking.
Our eyes fall to the mossy floor
Twigs crumble beneath us
We stumble onwards, searching
Searching for some way out
It was undeniable any longer -
We knew that we were lost
The darkness slowly closes in
Our steps taken are Irrevocable
No going back, we must press on
Creatures skitter all around
We jump at the slightest noise,
The feeling of not being alone
Twilight skims through the trees
Dark is on it’s way, we need out
A small house veers in the distance
We break out into a run towards it
Relief floods over us like cool water
Realization hits me hard as we close in
This is my home, it was here all along
I turn to express my frustration with him
Shock evokes me like a thunderstrike
I am alone.
