I watched “The Problem with Criticism” and it explained why criticism can be a problem. Telling a person that their opinion is wrong, and then telling them your advice and opinion is right, is a form of criticism. Most people don’t stand for their opinion anymore because they want to fit in or not be criticized for what their thought on something is. If your one of those people who don’t stand up for themselves and their opinion, you’re basically spineless. You don’t do things your way, and you take others opinions instead of taking your own, you take others’ advice instead of your own. Catholic Christians, have to have a spine. they need to stand up for what they believe in, they need to take their own opinions before others, and need to take their own advice before others. People who criticize catholic Christians, are trying to make the person feel different about their beliefs, and their opinions on their belief in God. They need to keep their faith and stand up for themselves and have that spine to stand up for everything they believe in.

Summary: It is just like what path you want to take when you are older the good one or the bad one

Luke 10:38-42

Who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he was saying.  Mary sat listening to the lord while Martha (mary’s sister) did work.  Martha wanted mary’s help to do the jobs but she was listening to Jesus.  Martha asked Jesus for his help to tell Mary to help her do her work but Jesus tells her that Mary chose the best choice, to listen to Jesus.

Mary was listening to Jesus but Martha was too distracted to listen. Martha wanted God to fix her problems but Mary would sit and listen to God rather than help Martha.

Mary chose to listen and learn to Jesus rather than Martha was distracted and did not want to listen to Jesus.

Mary listened to Jesus to what he had to say rather than help Martha.  I think Mary is going to do nothing to help and listen to God.

Summary: John 11:5-6   Lazarus grows ill and Jesus stays with him for 2 days while Mary and Martha leave.

Jesus loved them all and felt the need to stay longer for Lazarus because he was sick.

Jesus loved all three of them and felt the need to stay with Lazarus because he was very ill and the other two were not so he left them to stay with him.  He stayed two days longer so he was there for Lazarus.

Jesus’s attitude towards Martha, May, and Lazarus is that he loved them all and he even stayed two days because he was ill and didn’t want him to be alone.

Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus and when he found out that Lazarus was ill he stayed for 2 days because he didn’t want to be left alone. /

Summary- John 11:20-22

Martha went to see Jesus and Mary stayed home.  Martha was then upset with Jesus because Lazarus had died.

Martha blames God for Lazarus dying. I don’t think that Martha has a good relationship with God or she wouldn’t blame him.

Martha’s faith is not based on logic was based on just her opinion, it would not make sense if someone is not there and someone dies that the person who is not there it’s their fault.

Martha’s faith was based on that she had lost trust in God and she blames him for letting Lazarus for dying.  I think she had a good relationship with him until he died and then now she doesn’t have a good relationship because of blaming him for letting Lazarus die.

Martha’s faith in the lord is based on her relationship with Jesus because she believes that it was with her brother he wouldn’t have died and she had faith that if he stayed he wouldn’t have died.  Lazarus dies and Martha believes if Jesus stayed he would still be alive. Summary: It is just like what path you want to take when you are older the good one or the bad one

Exodus 4:10-17

Moses told the Lord to pardon his servants because he has never been eloquent not in the past or since he spoke to them. The Lord said back that he is slow of speech and tough and because Moses complained that he could not speak well, God appointed Aaron as Moses’ “prophet”. At the command of Moses, he took his staff. Then he stretched out his rod to bring on the first three signs.

It says that Moses isn’t the best and equal to everyone else. And he wants Jesus to speak to everyone doesn’t matter what’s wrong with them. And that will make his heart happy.

What is Aaron’s role?

Aaron’s role was to speak for Moses from Jesus.

Acts 8:26-38

Section F

Luke 5:4-11

When does Peter first begin to understand Jesus?

Answer: Peter started to understand Jesus when Simon and Peter pulled the nets full of fish into the boat and the boat started sinking.  Peter fell to his knees, saying that Jesus shouldn’t help him because he had sinned. Jesus said to Peter that he was forgiven and that He can teach them about His forgiveness.

Summary: The reading is taken from the well-known story of

Matthew 14:24-33

What does Peter do when he sees Jesus?

Jesus appeared to the disciples and said, “Take heart, it is I, do not be afraid”  Peter then answered Jesus and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water”. Peter did not react the same way as the other disciples that saw, and feared Jesus.  Instead, Peter answered Jesus’ question and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” Jesus then said, “Come.” As Peter got out of the boat, he then started walking on the water and came towards Jesus. While Peter was walking towards Jesus, Peter noticed a strong wind, and began to sink he then cried out to Jesus, “Lord save me!” Jesus then immediately reached out his hand and caught him. Jesus then said “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”. When Peter sees Jesus he answers, and follows him out onto the water.

Matthew 17:1-8

What does Peter suggest in this passage?

Peter suggests that these mountains are a great place to be, so he says he can make three dwellings for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah.  Peter suggests that these mountains are a great place because the sun lights up Jesus’ face like lanterns, and Jesus talks to them shortly after his clothes became dazzling white.

John 13:3-10

What does Jesus do?  How does Peter respond?

This passage is from the time around Jesus’ Passion.  Holy Thursday; when Jesus and His disciples are having the Last Supper in the upper room.  Jesus presents himself to his disciples as a servant and washes their feet in a basin. When Jesus offers to clean him, Peter responds in a stubborn manner, stating that unless Peter washes Jesus’ feet, Jesus can have no share with him.  Simon Peter continues to say that if Jesus is to clean His disciples, He should not only wash his feet but also his hands and his head.

Based on these passages, which of the bits of intelligence does Peter often use to understand and respond to Jesus?

Based on these passages, I can infer that Peter responds to Jesus with interpersonal intelligence.  Interpersonal intelligence is knowledge derived from social interaction with other people. In the first passage, Peter displays great humility, but Jesus forgave Peter and offered to teach Peter of his great forgiveness.  This tells us that Peter knows Jesus would have some form of response to his actions, thus further confirming his knowledge of interpersonal intelligence. Passage two further develops Peter’s responses to Jesus. We read of Peter’s response to Jesus’ pleas for him to come out onto the water with him.  Peter comes as Jesus commands him. In passage three, Peter recognizes the presence of others and offers to make dwellings for them. Passage four shows another act of Peter’s humility, telling Jesus that his feet, hands, and head all need to be washed to really be clean.

Romans 7:14-23

The Inner Conflict

For we know that the law is spiritual; but I am of the flesh, sold into slavery under sin. I do not understand my own actions. I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree that the law is good. But in fact, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot do it. I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me.

So I find it to be a law that when I want to do what is good, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God in my innermost self, but I see in my members another law at war with the law of my mind, making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.

Who does Paul talk about as he tries to explain law and grace?

Paul speaks of sin and how it makes him make the wrong choices and do what he does not want to do. Paul is talking about himself and how he is sinning.

The passage talks about how Paul is admitting that he has sinned and that he does not do what he wants to do but what he hates.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5

Proclaiming Christ Crucified

When I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come proclaiming the mystery of God to you in lofty words or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I came to you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. My speech and my proclamation were not with plausible words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God.

What does Paul say helped reveal the power of the spirit?

Paul reveals the power of the spirit by saying he chose not to know nothing among him except for Jesus Christ and him being crucified. He came to the spirit and said this he was in fear.

He also asked for his help in what to do.

2 Corinthians 12:7-10

even considering the exceptional character of the revelations. Therefore, to keep me from being too elated, a thorn was given to me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me, to keep me from being too elated. Three times I appealed to the Lord about this, that it would leave me, but he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.“ So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for the sake of Christ; for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.

Paul understands that in his grace the law that God has given him is visible.

Which of the bits of intelligence is Paul using in these passages to help people understand God?

Paul used fear as his intelligence to face the fears of the spirit.

Whose need for proof does Jesus understand and accept?

Commandments of the Church

The commandments of the church are things you should do, to respect God. They all involve doing regular things, such a confessing your sins, and doing communion at least once a year.  They also involve staying loyal and having all your faith in God, and not other idols or other gods. They also mention celebrating the holy days, such as Easter and Christmas, and remembering what each holy day is about. Some encourage people to attend mass every Sunday, and on holy days, to show your faith to the Lord. The church wants you to respect God by attending mass and doing simple things to keep your faith in Him.

Fr Joys First Visit

Father Joy gave us a background about his life and where he’s originally from. He’s from Kerala India, which is a southern province of India with a population of 33,387,677 people. It is the 23rd largest province in India. Father Joy had 5 brothers and 1 sister. His sister moved out when she was 18 and became a nun. From that point, he wanted to become a priest. He started in India and was given a choice of learning German, and attending a church in Germany or staying in India and finding a different church. He didn’t want to learn German because it was hard enough speaking 2 different languages, so he found an opening where people spoke English. He attended  St Theresa in Edmonton Alberta for 2 years. He then was sent to the Holy Name of Jesus in Vermilion, where he would hold mass. He had a long journey to becoming a priest with about 14 years of education. When he moved to Canada, he missed his mother and father very much, because he wouldn’t be able to see them anymore, but he knew he would see them again soon. Before he attended school to become a priest, he got in touch with his sister, about where he could go to get a degree in preaching. That’s where he began his career as a priest. He knew English because the schools in India gave English classes, where kids learned to speak English. That’s why he chose to come to an English speaking country because he already knew English. There are many different religions in India, and all of them live in peace. None of them fight with each other. There are also many different languages spoken in India, so there is no official language.

My Motivations

My motivations for working are based on independence and support. I like to work at my own pace and have an organized schedule when it comes to working. I’m not afraid to take chances, and I take responsibility for all my actions. I also seek tools, education, and people to help get my work done to my satisfaction. I like getting a contribution when I do a good job on my work, and I like a work environment with strong leaders such as managers. I don’t like being on a tight schedule, one that is unorganized, or one that has no routine to it. When I need help getting something done, I ask someone who supports me in my work to help me figure something out.

Knowledge

My knowledge is based on physical education and science. These two subjects work together in a special way. Science is involved in physical education, and physical education involves science. The way these 2 work is knowing about the human body, and about human health. The human body is only capable to do so much, such as lifting weights or overworking yourself.  Science includes chemistry, physics and biology, which collaborate with physical education. For example, physical capabilities may come from the genetic background. Perhaps your father was an amazing runner, those genes could have been passed down to you, which is why you’re good at running. Physics is used in weight lifting. The way you bend your arms and push the dead weight up is a matter of force, strength, and stability. If one of these were off, it could conclude in the deadweight falling on top of you, or a muscle being damaged or torn.  Chemistry can be used to guide or teach an athlete about him or her self. An example includes the amount of oxygen you need in your body for it to function properly. For instance, your brain works off of oxygen, and your blood has oxygen in it, which is carried throughout your body. Lack of oxygen can lead to fainting, or your physical body shutting down. A runner has to keep moving afer taking a run, or vasoconstriction, which is your blood vessels tightening, increasing your blood pressure. It can cause seizures or fainting. A runner has to keep moving so the blood vessels keep open, and the recovery of the run will happen faster. Science and physical education collaborate in many ways, which is why my knowledge is based on the two collaborating subjects.

My Interests

After taking the survey, I learned that im an aide, meaning im a very helpful and social person, and very physically active. I get straight to the point and I’m willing to take risks, and won’t shy away from hard decisions. When making difficult situations, I think about the social and physical effects it will have on people around me, and myself.

The 10th Commandment

The poor in spirit are comforting people who are in need of comforting. Comforting people who are sick, people who are going through a hard time, such as poverty or grieving over a lost one. Helping the poor is sacrificing your own needs, to help those who need it. Both connect to each other because you’re helping the poor, and sacrificing your personal needs to help those who need it. It’s helping both the poor and the poor in spirit if you care about them and if your willing to let go of the things you own and helping or seeing someone grieve, and comforting them. It’s seeing what other people are going through, and helping them with the struggles their facing.

Who am I -Personality

I’m more of an independent sort of person, that prefers to be alone in or in a small group. I have good social skills, but I prefer not to use them, and keep my thoughts to myself instead of sharing them. I don’t like being on a strict schedule and prefer to have a flexible routine and schedule. I like to jump straight into work without any planning, and I have disorganized thoughts during tasks. While making decisions, I think about how the other person would feel after I make it.
