Gimp layer mask

I started my gimp project with two images one of a cat and one of a boat on a lake and this is how i put the two images together. To make the layer mask I right clicked on the image I wanted the layer mask on in this case it was the cat then i added it to the image. I used the layer mask to add the cat sitting in the boat. Originally the cat was sitting on the grass so I needed to erase the grass but unfortunately I could not do this while it was so far away. Then I use the magnify-glass in the top left corner to zoom in and out. This helped me to erase the green close to the cat without erasing the cat itself. I used a paint brush to erase the green. After I was done all that I successfully created a cat in a boat.

The burden of the riddles of existence.

Existence is defined as the fact or state of living or having objective reality. If you have thought about the riddles of existence before have you found out the Truth or what is real? Reality is a weird thing to think about and discuss, as a matter of fact, there are a few riddles of existence I’ve been canvassing. Like if a tree falls in a forest when nobody around does it make a sound well you’ve probably heard this before but have you truly thought about it.I’ve also been thinking about existence and life with the riddles can you doubt your existence and can computers think.

Have you thought about when a tree falls in a forest does it really make a sound if nobody’s around? I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I think I have an answer but as you know my answer does not have to match anyone else’s. Different people have different opinions this is just my thinking. If you think about it its kinda clear a tree would make a sound even if nobody’s around but how could you prove that if you can’t hear it if I try to explain we would get caught in an endless loop. Maybe we could try to put out a recording machine and leaving but that would take a long time to prove and still would be a way of something to hear. Too bad humans don’t have the ability to communicate with animals because there is a guarantee that an animal would have heard a tree fall. How do we know that we can’t communicate with animals what if someone on the planet could and is protecting them or something wow wait a minute I’m getting off-topic, back to the trees?  Without a way to hear does it still make sound, according to George Berkeley “yes, it did make a sound, because God heard it.”This is a great opinion that I also thought about but my opinion is if you aren’t there to hear it it would make a sound wave but the sound itself was not heard concluding that it did not make an actual noise. If we go back to the animals hearing it, then maybe it truly did make a sound. This is an impossible riddle to solve and the truth is that without proof then we could never truly know if that tree made a sound or not when it fell.

The thought of our technology overruling us or gaining self-awareness is a terrible nightmare for numerous people. The truth is that the technology that we have created is not advanced enough to gain self-awareness because we have programmed it to do exactly what we want it to do. Some intelligent designer although have been testing computer intelligence for board games like chess. The designer has the two computer battle out and learns from mistakes they made in the past. They also have the computers battle advanced chess players to help them gain the skills of chess.  Would this be considered thinking or just advanced coding? Well according to the dictionary “think, is  to form or have in the mind, to have as an intention, to have as an opinion.” Of course, a computer doesn’t have a  mind because it is an inanimate object but it would have an intention to win at chess. Computers do not have an opinion so that rules out the question can computers think. My final answer is that the computer is at the inception of thinking. Possibly in the future, they will gain self-awareness and take over the world but I hope not.

Descartes once said “I think therefore I am” this statement ties into our next riddle. Have you ever wondered if you can doubt your existence? Well according to Descartes it is impossible to doubt you exist but I’m going to think about it and see what I come up with well first off I’ve never doubted that I exist myself. I know for a fact that my brother doubted that anyone else existed and wondered if he was the only one who was real. How do we know we exist what if we were all just coded into a world of some alien’s imagination. Have you ever wondered if your whole life was a coma and you have a totally different life outside this life? That would be terrible you would start to go a little crazy if you think about that too long? One day I found A Video that told you to wake up your in a coma it kinda freaked me out and ever since I’ve wondered if that was a joke or not. One night my brother and I tried to convince Colton he was in a coma by chanting Wake Up but sadly that didn’t freak him out. If I put the idea in your head that you could be in a coma I apologize but I had to get my point across. As you can see you can doubt many things including other people, if anything is real, you can even doubt that you are not in the real world and by the way the new virtual realities aren’t helping you know if things are real at all. So I think you can doubt many things but your existence is not one of them.

The more I thought about the riddles the more I got confused I’ve answered the riddles to the full of all my thoughts but still am doubting if I’m right or not. The riddles of existence are difficult to think about and even more difficult to answer and so ill leave you with the truth of the universe …….. I have no clue. So now that I’ve answered theses riddle it’s time to find the Truth for myself and God is the Truth so find the Truth in your existence.

Multiple Signs of Intelligence in the Bible

  1. A.                                                                                                                                                                   It is just like what path you want to take when you are older the good one or the bad one.                                                                                                                                         \ Luke 10:38-42      Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he was saying.  Mary sat listening to the lord while Martha (mary’s sister) did work. Martha wanted mary’s help to do the jobs but she was listening to Jesus.  Martha asked Jesus for his help to tell Mary to help her do her work but Jesus tells her that Mary chose the best choice, to listen to Jesus.John 11:5-6   Lazarus grows ill and Jesus stays with him for 2 days while Mary and Martha leave.

     John 11:20-22

Martha went to see Jesus and Mary stayed home.  Martha was then upset with Jesus because Lazarus had died.

Martha’s faith in the lord is based on her relationship with Jesus because she believes that if Jesus was with her brother he wouldn’t have died and she had faith that if he stayed he wouldn’t have died. Lazarus dies and Martha believes if Jesus stayed he would still be alive.

  2. B.                                                                                                                                                        Exodus 4:10-17                                                                                                                           Moses told the Lord to pardon his servants because he has never been eloquent not in the past or since he spoke to them. The Lord said back that he is slow of speech and tough and because Moses complained that he could not speak well, God appointed Aaron as Moses’ “prophet”. At the command of Moses, he took his staff. Then he stretched out his rod in order to bring on the first three signs. What is Aaron’s role?Aarons’s role was to speak for Moses from Jesus.

    Acts 8:26-38

The angel told Philip to go south to the road that leads from Jerusalem to Gaza. There he would worship Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. Philip is taken by the Holy Spirit to meet a highly placed Ethiopian court official who is reading Isaiah on the way home from Jerusalem. The Ethiopian asks for and receives baptism as a believer in Jesus as God’s Messiah, promised by Isaiah.     Who are the two people in this story?

    Philip and Eunuch

Why does one of them choose to be baptized?

As they were going along the road, they came to some water; and the eunuch said, ‘Look, here is water! What is to prevent me from being baptized!“He commanded the chariot to stop,” and both of them, Philip and the eunuch, went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.

  3. C.                                                                                                                                                                    1 Samuel 16:23- His music is helping to heal the soul of the people and ward the evil through the joint passion of music. He also helped him to see that music can connect people.                                                                                                                1 Samuel 16:23- His music is helping to heal the soul of the people and ward the evil through the joint passion of music. He also helped him to see that music can connect people. Who calms Saul and how?David calms Saul by playing the Lyre

What happens right before God’s presence fills the temple?

They all gather in song and prayer together to show the lord their devotion and faith

4.D.                                                                                                                                                                     John 1:3-9 – Jesus is described as the beginning of life and all-new creation. Without him, nothing would have been created. There would be no light to overcome the darkness.  John was sent by God to prove to people that he is true.

Mark 13:24-27 – Jesus describes the world in chaos, with the sun going dark. Then he says he will come in his glory, and bring light back to the world. If you’re in the dark, Jesus can bring the light back.

Ezekiel 1: 4-28 – Ezekiel uses images to help understand God.  Ezekiel explained what he saw. He told about the four creatures,  that they had four different heads, and they had 2 wings each. He said they walked in a line with their wings touching and went with the spirit, never turning. Ezekiel also explained about the clouds and wind the creatures were surrounded by.

5.E.

Exodus 18:13-27 – People came to Moses with their problems so he could settle the arguments, Moses gave them the instructions from God to help them solve their disagreements or problems. Moses’s father-in-law helped him realize that he would need help to talk to all those people. He told Moses that he should find good people so they could help him. They could help with minor situations, but they would come to Moses with important cases.

What is Moses’ problem?

His problem is that he is solving all the people’s problems through god and he is only one man. This will tire Moses and the people too.

Who helps him solve it in a logical step by step way?

Moses’s father in law told him to find people to help him with this task and give the word of God.

John 20:24-29 – After Jesus had risen, he came to the disciples but Thomas wasn’t with them. When he heard about Jesus’s visit, he didn’t believe them. He said that unless he put his finger in the hole in Jesus’s hand he wouldn’t believe. Jesus came back when they were all together. Thomas saw Jesus and believed. Jesus told him to believe even if you haven’t seen something, he said, “Blessed are those have not seen and yet have come to believe.”

Whose need for proof does Jesus understand and accept?

Thomas needed proof that Jesus had risen and Jesus accepted that and understood it, but told him to believe without seeing.

John 11:16

Thomas who was called a twin said to the disciples to let them go so they can die with him.

Who has a very matter-of-fact attitude?

Thomas

What does he say?

Thomas said to let them go so they can die with him.

6.F

Luke 5:4-11

When does Peter first begin to understand Jesus? Peter started to understand Jesus when Simon and Peter pulled the nets full of fish into the boat and the boat started sinking.  Peter fell to his knees, saying that Jesus shouldn’t help him because he had sinned. Jesus said to Peter that he was forgiven and that He can teach them about His forgiveness.

Matthew 14:24-33

What does Peter do when he sees Jesus?

Jesus appeared to the disciples and said, “Take heart, it is I, do not be afraid”  Peter then answered Jesus and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water”. Peter did not react the same way as the other disciples that saw and feared Jesus.  Instead, Peter answered Jesus’ question and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” Jesus then said, “Come.” As Peter got out of the boat, he then started walking on the water and came towards Jesus. While Peter was walking towards Jesus, Peter noticed a strong wind, and began to sink he then cried out to Jesus, “Lord save me!” Jesus then immediately reached out his hand and caught him. Jesus then said “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”. When Peter sees Jesus he answers and follows him out onto the water.

  Matthew 17:1-8

What does Peter suggest in this passage?

Peter suggests that these mountains are a great place to be, so he says he can make three dwellings for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah.  Peter suggests that these mountains are a great place because the sun lights up Jesus’ face like lanterns, and Jesus talks to them shortly after his clothes became dazzling white.

John 13:3-10

What does Jesus do?  How does Peter respond?

This passage is from the time around Jesus’ Passion.  Holy Thursday; when Jesus and His disciples are having the Last Supper in the upper room.  Jesus presents himself to his disciples as a servant and washes their feet in a basin. When Jesus offers to clean him, Peter responds in a stubborn manner, stating that unless Peter washes Jesus’ feet, Jesus can have no share with him.  Simon Peter continues to say that if Jesus is to clean His disciples, He should not only wash his feet but also his hands and his head.

Based on these passages, which of the intelligence does Peter often use to understand and respond to Jesus?

Based on these passages, I can infer that Peter responds to Jesus with interpersonal intelligence.  Interpersonal intelligence is knowledge derived from social interaction with other people. In the first passage, Peter displays great humility, but Jesus forgave Peter and offered to teach Peter of his great forgiveness.  This tells us that Peter knows Jesus would have some form of response to his actions, thus further confirming his knowledge of interpersonal intelligence. Passage two further develops Peter’s responses to Jesus. We read of Peter’s response to Jesus’ pleas for him to come out onto the water with him.  Peter comes as Jesus commands him. In passage three, Peter recognizes the presence of others and offers to make dwellings for them. Passage four shows another act of Peter’s humility

G.                                                                                                                                                                     7:14-23

Who does Paul talk about as he tries to explain law and grace?

Paul speaks of sin and how it makes him make the wrong choices and do what he does not want to do. Paul is talking about himself and how he is sinning.

The passage talks about how Paul is admitting that he has sinned and that he does not do what he wants to do but what he hates.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5  What does Paul say helped reveal the power of the spirit?

Paul reveals the power of the spirit by saying he chose not to know nothing among him except for Jesus Christ and him being crucified. He came to the spirit and said this he was in fear.

He also asked for his help in what to do.

2 Corinthians

Paul understands that in his grace the law that God has given him is visible.

Which of the intelligence is Paul using in these passages to help people understand God?

Paul used fear as his intelligence to face the fears of the spirit.

Task 2:

2 examples of the importance and/or value of musical intelligence

  • music helps to heal the soul of people and ward the evil through that joint passion of music. Music can also connect people. Music helps connect like it did in 2 Chronicles 5:11-14 and 1 Samuel 16:23.

3 people who are word smart

  • Three people that are word smart are Jhon, Jesus, and Ezequiel because of their ability to preach the word of god and help others through it, they are word smart in the passage John 1:3-9, Mark 13:24-27, and Ezekiel 1: 4-28.

2 people who use logical intelligence

  • Moses and Philip are two examples of people who are considered logically intelligent because of their ability to help people with their problems like he did in Exodus 18:13-27.

2 people whose understanding of Jesus is rooted in the intelligence of relationships

  • Two people whose understanding of Jesus in the intelligence of relationships are Peter and Simon they had sinned and wanted to repair their relationship with Jesus. It tells about their journey of intelligence in Luke 5:4-11,Matthew 17: 1-8, John 13:3-10 and Matthew 14:24-33

1 person who is self smart

  • Paul is a good example of a person who is self smart because he knows when he is sinning and even though he knows its wrong he does it anyway, so he asks to be forgiven because he knows it was wrong.in the passagesRomans 7:14-23 , 1 Corinthians 2:1-5  and 2 Corinthians 12:7-10

3 passages that rely on spatial intelligence

1 person who uses physical intelligence to understand Jesus.

  • An example of a person who uses physical intelligence to understand Jesus is Eunuch because he stopped on the road at some water to get baptized in the passage Acts 8:26-38.

Commandments Of The Church

The ten commandments are the religious laws that tell us what is acceptable and rules of the church and to being a catholic.they are a sacred tradition that goes back to  In the Bible story of Moses and the Ten Commandments, the moral laws of God are solidified into ten great mandates. Shortly after God delivered the people of Israel out of Egypt by crossing the Red Sea, they traveled through the desert to Sinai where they camped in front of Mount Sinai. Also called Mount Horeb, Mount Sinai is a very significant place. It is here that God met and spoke with Moses, telling him why he had rescued Israel from Egypt. God had chosen the people of Israel to be his treasured possession. Israel would be made into a holy nation of priests for God.

One day God called Moses to the top of the mountain. He gave Moses the first part of his new system of laws for the people–the Ten Commandments. These commandments summarized the absolutes of spiritual and moral living that God intended for his people. God continued to give direction to his people through Moses, theses ten commandments are sacred

  1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
  2. You shall make no idols.
  3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
  4. Keep the Sabbath day holy.
  5. Honor your father and your mother.
  6. You shall not murder.
  7. You shall not commit adultery.
  8. You shall not steal.
  9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  10. You shall not covet.

but did you know that there are more than just these 10 their used to be more there are five more the Catechism of the Catholic Church, in its Compendium, enumerates the following five:

  1. You shall attend Mass on Sundays and on holy days of obligation and rest from servile labor
  2. You shall confess your sins at least once a year.
  3. You shall receive the sacrament of the Eucharist at least once during the Easter season.
  4. You shall observe the days of fasting and abstinence established by the Church
  5. You shall help to provide for the needs of the Church.

The holy day obligations are listed in this website http://www.kofc.org/un/en/resources/cis/devotionals/holydays.pdf

The only two obligations that are on days other then Sunday are January 1, the solemnity of Mary, Mother of God; and December 25, the solemnity of the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Father Joys 1st Vist

Father Joy is the new priest at st.jeromes school and in the short period of time he was here introducing himself I learned Quite a few things, for example, he told us he can from India.  Father joy is from a small part of India called Kerala. Kerala is a state on the southwestern Malabar coast of India. Spread over 38,863 km2 (15,005 sq mi), Kerala is the twenty-third largest Indian state by area. It is bordered by Karnataka to the north and northeast, Tamil Nadu to the east and south, and the Lakshadweep Sea to the west. With 33,387,677 inhabitants  Kerala is the thirteenth-largest Indian state by population. It is divided into 14 districts with the capital being Thiruvananthapuram. Malayalam. is the most widely spoken language and is also the official language of the state. Below is a picture of Father joy from Santa Maria Goretti, Edmonton, AB. Father Joy’s full name is Fr. Joy Vadakkan.

Father joy told as about his journey and his family he said he has an older sister that left when he was five to be a nun she was only 18. His mom and dad were hesitant about his going to become a priest when he was in grade 10, they wanted to make sure that this was for sure what he wanted to do with his life. So they asked him to stay and he did and after he graduated he was still sure that this was what he wanted to do with his life and so they let him go. His sister had always been supportive of his dreams. He said that they were going to send him to somewhere else before he got sent here in which he would have had to learn a new language but he declined because he thought it would be hard for him to learn a new language.luckaly he got sent here to a little town in Alberta called vermillion we are all excited to have a new priest and we hope he can teach us as much as father roger did.

The Tenth Commandment

The tenth Commandment and the first beatitude talks  about “the poor” and the “poor in spirit.”

Poor is defined in the dictionary as lacking sufficient money to live at a standard considered comfortable or normal in society and poor in spirit is meant that we must be humble in our spirits. If you put the word “humble” in place of the word “poor,” you will understand what He meant.

Like the bible says we know that “poor in spirit” does not mean lacking in spirit, be it courage, the Holy Spirit, or religious awareness. Rather it is that poverty is not only a physical condition but also a spiritual one.

Some examples of good desires or goodwill would be to

  1. Donate.
  2. Call Congress.
  3. Inform Yourself.
  4. Build Buzz/Raise Awareness.
  5. Social Media.
  6. Get Political.
  7. Fundraising.
  8. Be a Consumer with a Cause.

This is ways that you and your community and anyone can help the poor and poor in spirt
